DAS length of time if updating tickets

My DH was approved for DAS last year when we had AP's. We're planning a trip to WDW in November and he will reapply for DAS before the trip. I know that acceptance isn't guaranteed. AP's are so expensive so I was thinking we'd both purchase length of stay tickets before the trip and then pay to upgrade to DVC AP's once we get there. Once we do this could the DAS be extended to the year length or would he have to go through the process approval again?

No experience but pretty sure you’ll need to have another “chat”. I don’t think it’ll just automatically call recognize you have a valid AP.
