DAS card

On my last trip to Disney, I was unaware that I could go to Guest Services and apply for a DAS card. Since I can’t stand for more than 20-30 minutes, I couldn’t go on too many rides (except those that I had a FP for). Now that FP is not available, I’m afraid that my March trip will very disappointing. My question is : should I ask for a das card? I feel guilty, since I can stand for 20-30 minutes. Will I be depriving someone else from getting the card? I’ve read on this site that autistic children can benefit from this card. I’m a senior citizen and can deal with disappointment better than a child. All children should have a magical experience at Disney. What should I do? Any suggestions?

Not exactly accurate that they won't issue for mobility issues. I just got back from WDW for 5 days (1/1-1/5). I had foot surgery in late October that hasn't exactly healed as quickly as I had hoped when I booked the trip. I can also only stand or walk for about 30 minutes and then I need to rest it for a few minutes. Although I was told that an ECV or wheelchair would be my best bet for mobility issues, they did issue me a DAS pass. It really helped for longer lines because my boyfriend could go and check us in and get a return time while i was sitting somewhere, so it did cut down on standing around and walking for me.

Mine isn’t a mobility problem. I just can’t stand for long periods of time. I have a problem with the blood flow in my legs. I can’t sit for long either. I stop to walk if I’m in a car for longer than an hour. A scooter won’t solve my problem.

I would definitely inquire.

They aren’t supposed to issue them for mobility issues. You might have encountered a CM that was feeling generous but no one should count on getting a DAS with a mobility issue.

I know of someone's pre-teen child who had recent foot surgery and was issued one as well. So, I don't know.

DAS is generally not granted for mobility or stamina related issues. Standing - or the need to change positions - is considered stamina. The typical recommendation is to use a mobility device, maybe a rollator that you can alternate pushing a bit and sitting a bit, or use a wheelchair in the same manner. There are very limited places to sit, even more so now

As to recent reports - with the longer social-distanced queues, I don’t know if they are more lenient withDAS requests. I wouldn’t want to rely on that expectation. I suggest having a “plan B” anyway.

The first post of THIS THREAD explains DAS.

would a roller help you. it would give you a set for when you needed to sit and it would allow you to walk when you needed to walk

Dont ever feel bad for asking about something... Everyone is a kid again at Disney and you should have a magical day.

They are going to suggest a mobility device rather than DAS for this, because it is a positional issue. They will suggest a device like a wheelchair or rollato that allows you to sit, stand, or walk as needed.

I completely understand. I have a crazy host of issues, but one of them is blood flow (mainly in my arms & neck- but lower body is affected as well)... and there just isn’t a happy/easy answer for it! Yes, position (& changing position) help me, but there also times when I’ve got to bolt for the resort bc the only answer is that I’ve got to get horizontal, and fast! Having a DAS pass has been invaluable to me, and I feel like it puts me on an even playing field with everyone else (which is how it should be). There are a lot of days that I don’t even use it, but knowing it’s “got my back” is a huge relief. 😉

They might. I don’t know. If using something like a rollator/wheelchair would fix everything for you, then by all means, do that. But if it’s more complicated, it can’t hurt to ask.

DAS or not- I hope your trip is wonderful & you’re able to enjoy it!! 🤩✨

We get a DAS each visit and I have noticed policy and procedure differs by what CM you get. This should not be the case but it really is.

This last trip, I signed up for DAS and they didn't ask any medical questions. They did scan my MagicBand and take a photo but that was it. When I used it, I didn't bypass the line completely, I just came in at the inside portion of the queue, so there was some standing and walking involved still.
Just something to keep in mind should you decide to use it.

They should not ask medical question but can and should ask something like “what are your concerns for the lines you have”. I think asking some type of questions is a good idea

I have found this to be the case as well. It will eventually become a problem the same way that the previous system became one, for the same reason.
