I was at the parks today and noticed that HM was MUCH darker! It was almost pitch black! Is this budget cuts? Has anyone else noticed this? I hate it when it's overly dark like that...but yes, I thought I was going insane(or blind)

Hmmm....we just got back yesterday and I didn't notice it being any darker than normal in the HM.

I felt that way about Indiana Jones last summer. It seemed to dark to move in the line.

Yeah, totally! Especially in the "caves" and the area where they show the safety film. It was also like that when I was there in December, and the floors were damp/wet due to the rain water being tracked in...scary! :scared1:

I have eye issues where my eyes adjust way too slowly for these rides. I've noticed HM being brighter lately, so hope it isn't back to being darker..and yes, Indy is way too dark..espcially with all the extra stuff everywhere to bump into. I have a hard time in that line..

Yes, that is the spot it was the worst. Before that I never remembered having trouble seeing in there.

I noticed this last year when we first got our APs and hadn't been to DLR in about 5 years. The first time we rode after the NBC overlay was taken down I said the same thing - that it seemed so much darker. It especially seemed to be at the beginning of the ride. And then I was surprised to see the attic scene with all those pictures that I was sure I hadn't remebered from before. It's funny since someone else just posted a question about the pictures in the attic recently too. Now i know it wasn't just me. :rotfl:

Do the rides seem darker on Sunny days? (as opposed to night time or on cloudy days).

Maybe it is your eyes taking awhile to adjust to the dim light, it takes eyes up to 30 minutes to completely adjust to reduced light.

Or maybe it was the sunglasses. :rotfl::cool2:

I have to say I noticed this last year when we went in September. We rode HM one day, and it was super dark.....noticably super dark on the ride, like someone forgot to flip a switch. Our kids (and hubby and I) were wondering what the heck was going on because it was never like that before. But the next day when we rode it, it was back to normal. I guess someone remembered to hit the switch that day. :confused3

Like a PP said, I think it has to do with what time of day you ride, and how sunny it is outside. If you go on it during a sunny day, your eyes take longer to adjust to the darkness so everything seems super dark. If you ride it at night, your eyes are already adjusted to darkness so the ride seems brighter.

Personally, I like it when it seems darker because that way you don't notice all of the imperfections and other elements of the ride that you're not really supposed to see (meaning the mansion looks and feels more like a mansion and less like a giant warehouse).

Hmm I've gone on the ride several times in quite sunny weather and never remembered it being that dark. I like it dark, but that dark was the kind of dark that hurts your eyes.

I noticed it was quite dark in the elevator/stretching room as well as in the hallway leading to the doombuggies. My previous trips were all durring the HMH overlay so compared to that it was much darker, so it's been a while since I last rode it regular. I only remember that it was quite dark because my DS3 commented that it was sooo dark...
