TLDR: Any strategies to handle the crowds on Dapper Day November 6th. Make it a California Adventure day? Do something else?

Taking my 5yr old to DL to celebrate my 40th....problem is I've never been. We did WDW for his 5th birthday in April. During that trip we encountered Dapper Day at EPCOT though I didn't feel like the ride lines were longer there was definitely more foot traffic and the lines for characters and just crowds of people taking photos was definitely changed the "vibe" of the park. We're planning 3 maybe 3.5 park days and I know Dapper Day is a whole other beast in CA and in general the park is smaller. Do we just plan that as a CA day? Knott's Berry farm? I'll probably spring for hoppers and we're staying at the Four Points by Sheraton which isn't really a "resort" with lots of pool activities. Anyone have and advice or tips?

I think concerns about dapper day crowds are generally overblown, especially if they don't allow people to buy new Magic Keys. I feel like there's more people riding the unpopular rides like the monorail and main street vehicles but the wait times for popular rides aren't really affected that much. Foot traffic of people taking pictures is noticeable and waits for food do go up a bit.

I feel like Dapper folk are more into photos and dining than rides necessarily. Don’t get me wrong it will be busy but it’s also very festive and fun! I love Dapper Day and we go twice a year just to enjoy the uniqueness of it! The clothing is so awesome. I wouldn’t personally avoid the parks during Dapper Day, but reversions are very important if you want sit down meals.

Totally agree. Dapper Days are nowhere near as crowded as Columbus Day or many of the other national holidays. And the people-watching is divine - you’ll see entire families and friend groups in the most amazing outfits. Go, have a wonderful birthday, and maybe consider dressing up a little, too! When in Rome…

We are doing DD as a DL opening park. Staying there till at least 5 as we has a reservation in NOS. I'm hoping to see some familiar faces. It gets busy mid-day.

I'm not sure how it works, but is the official outing day on the 16th? Do people still dress up and go to the parks on the 15th? Just found out it was happening when we are going to be there. Thanks!
