I can't wait to hear about your wedding plans.

:lovestrucGreat story! How romantic to end up together so many years later... I love it.
Thanks you two!

The proposal has made me teary!!!!

Gorgeous ring!!!

Let's hear more! popcorn::
:) I'm glad I'm not the only one... I got teary eyed as I was writing it!

Oh yeah and P.S....

We'll be in WDW on Sept. 28th! We might just stalk your wedding! :)
I just read lurkyloo's tj on stalking weddings and I was cracking up. I feel honored that I may have my very own wedding stalker! :woohoo:

Love the story, he did a great job with the ring, and I hope you are having some part of your wedding in Epcot in Italy. Our ceremony was there and it was just the best location for a wedding. You need a photo in your wedding outfits infront of the tower.

Linda
Linda, Your photos are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing them!

Your story is great! I am getting married on the Disney Cruise Line...on the Dream October 2011...it feels so far away but I believe time will fly!

Good luck with all your planning!

Lisa
Thanks Lisa, I can't believe how fast time has been flying since we set a date!

Your ring is beautiful! DF did a great job and I think that he really got the look you wanted captured.

Thank you! I'm excited there is another september bride here!

Your ring is beautiful! He did a great job :)! Those pics of Epcot are gorgeous! What a great venue!
I vote Epcot!!!!

We'd love to get married in Epcot, but they wont' let us with an escape wedding. Which works out in the long run, now we can have the photographers we want! :)

(Thank you for sharing the story darling! It was awesome! You're quite the languologist!)
There you go stealing my words again Mr. Languologist!

such a cute story, gorgeous ring...congrats! :woohoo:

Thank you!! I can't wait to see pics from your wedding!

The Venue

Getting our families on board with our vision, finances, and moving back to Ohio were just a few bumps in the road when it came to getting wedding plans started. The date was set a few times with no wedding on its arrival. I was beginning to feel like the boy who cried wolf.

Df and I finally decided we are going to have the kind of wedding we want regardless of what anyone says... and things actually began to fall into place!

I have always dreamed of getting married in Florida. Patrick dreamed of having a small intimate wedding. As if Walt Disney World wasn't already special enough, it fit both dreams.

My dream location is quite simple; two palm trees and an aisle of rose petals. I really, really, really, badly wanted Sunset Pointe at the Polynesian, its perfect! We have five siblings and four parents... which would mean either DF or I can't come to our own wedding.

So, we signed a contract for the next best option, the wedding pavilion. I now have a new dilemma. Do I use the beach next to the pavilion, which will be closest to my original dream? Or do I use the pavilion itself which is what I'm actually paying for? I'm afraid either decision I make I may regret after its all over.

Suggestions... thoughts... ? They would be greatly appreciated!

Df and I had chinese for dinner tonight. This came out of my fortune cookie...

"Stop searching forever. Happiness is just next to you."

I thought it was so sweet I had to share! :goodvibes

Colors and The Shoes!

For our reception at home I want to use the colors brown, purple and orange. When I tell people that I usually get a funny look, :scratchin but I promise it looks good together. I recently found an inspiration pic in a magazine using those colors that I will post at a later date.

A while back I briefly entertained the idea of trying to find "Cinderella" shoes. I decided that would be way too difficult and moved on to trying to incorporate my colors by finding strappy purple sandals. Believe it or not I couldn't find any sandals that fit that description. A few weeks ago while "window shopping" with my cousin we stopped in Aldo.

Can you believe these were the first shoes I noticed?

Even the sales lady was excited. She said they had just gotten them in that day and couldn't wait for someone to try them on! When I tried them on I was beaming, I felt like a princess:. My cousin said I was smiling the same way her sister did when she tried on her wedding dress. So I had to buy them!

I'm feeling a little greedy though because I still want some purple shoes. :guilty:

The Theme and Save The Dates

We both loved :lovestruc the story of Carl and Ellie in the movie UP! We thought about doing an UP theme until we started discussing the recurring theme of adventure in the movie. Df and I love to tell stories and everything is an adventure to us! So an adventure theme seemed appropriate; at least for our home reception. I'm not so sure we have a theme for the wedding.

To fit our adventure theme we sent out save the dates we designed to look like an old postcard. To save a little money we sent them via email... most save the dates end up in a circular filing cabinet anyways. These are the ones we sent to our family that is invited to the wedding and the reception.

I think you should go with the location that fits your dreams!!! If that means that beach, then go for it! You'll still get use of the Commander's Terrace and you'll have a fantastic rain location just in case. You'd miss out on the organ...but really who needs the organ anyway

Okay so weird, but the fortune you got in your cookie is the EXACT same fortune my DF and I got when we first started dating in college!! He opened it up while we were sitting on his couch and we kind of freaked out since I was sitting next to him. We actually still have that piece of paper nearly 7 years later! Weird!

Those shoes are SO cute. You could always wear them for the reception and get purple shoes for the ceremony. Of course if you're on the beach, barefoot might be best! The save the dates look awesome, very neat idea :thumbsup2

Dress Anxiety

Patrick and I hoped to get married quickly. So only two weeks after moving back last summer, my parents and I headed out to a trunk show. I only found two dresses I was even interested in trying on.

The first one looked like this...
dress3.jpg

It's beautiful but it's definitely not me.

The second one is almost identical to this one...
(Its not the actual dress because I know DF is reading this and he does not want to see my dress with me in it or otherwise until the ceremony.)
dress2.jpg

I actually really liked this one on me. But I had only tried on two dresses, how could I possibly know if this was the right dress? The pressure to think fast turned on when a woman literally tried to snatch it right out of my hands. To add more pressure the woman running the show offered me another 30% off. The dress was already marked down to 600. That means the dress would only cost me 420... which is really hard to pass up!

On the ride home I started to second guess myself. Dad tried to calm me down by telling me if its not what I really want I can always sell it on ebay. Thanks Dad!

I remembered sitting in a bridal shop for hours watching friends trying on dresses and retrying on dresses. I began to wonder if it was a blessing I found my dress so fast.

Now that its getting close to the wedding I've began to have anxiety over the dress again. I've seen so many pictures of women in beautiful wedding gowns. But than there are some that are so completely striking that you know they found the dress made for them! I don't know that I have found that dress and have began looking again.

There is only one that has really stood out. There is a big difference between this...

Lots of updates since I last was here! I love your shoes!! I was looking for a cinderellay, comfy pair of shoes but didn't find any - good for you for finding them! :)

The dress that you bought is beautiful (even if it is a little different than the picture lol). It has a very classic style and you got a great deal! I am sorry that you are going through dress anxiety though :( Is that dress you really like available to try on at any boutiques that are close to you? Because you never know what you will think of it when you have it on, you may like the dress you bought much better - and that would ease the anxiety.

I hope you get it all sorted out soon!pixiedust:

Thanks for your opinion! I think Df and I have settled on using the beach and just getting some nice shots of the two of us inside.

I love that you had the same fortune! Too cool! I have it on the cover of my wedding planning notebook now. :goodvibes

It's too bad you didn't find any cinderella shoes it would have gone so well with everything you've done so far!

Yeah, I think I may just go try on a few dresses just to say I did. For all I know that may be all I need. :)

Hi! I'm new to your PJ and I absolutely love your cinderella shoes!

Now, about the dress dilemma, see if you can try the other one on. I am currently dress shopping and the ones I thought I would love, I don't. You might just need to be reminded why you chose your dress, or you may want to change your mind completely.

That's great advice, thank you! I think I will try some on and hope it does remind me why I picked mine in the first place! :)

Three Blessings

We have been super blessed and have been seeing doors opened us for us that we weren't expecting!

Blessing #1
Last year for my birthday DF took me to a local apple farm that is sorrounded by a gorgeous metropark. They have a beautiful little area for receptions that does not scream traditional wedding hall. Even though its still a well kept "secret" they book up pretty fast. So when DF and I decided that we wanted to have our at home reception on November 6th, I was sure they wouldn't be available.

We called on a Sunday, so I didn't expect anyone to answer. A couple hours later we got a call back from the coordinator saying that they have been booked for the entire fall of 2010, Fridays and Sundays included, for quite awhile. But two days prior somebody cancelled for Saturday,November 6th! We got our reception hall! :yay:

Blessing #2
The most important part of the wedding to Patrick is that someone we know and respect marries us. I agree. So we were stoked when our bible study pastor, who is also a good friend agreed to come down to Florida to marry us! :cheer2:

Blessing #3

Being a photographer myself, the photography is the most important element for me. For at least a couple years now I've been "stalking" The Roots website for inspiration and just to cheer me up when I'm having a bad day. :) When I first contacted Nathan and Jensey about shooting our wedding; Nathan replied saying that they might be going out of town that day but still wanted to talk to us, just in case they can work something out. Well come to find out they weren't just going out of town... they were moving out of town! They were able to work us into their plans! We will have The Roots shooting our wedding, on probably their last day as Florida residents! :dance3:

I just read lurkyloo's tj on stalking weddings and I was cracking up. I feel honored that I may have my very own wedding stalker! :woohoo:

LOL!! I was one of Carrie's (Lurkyloo's) stalkees! :rotfl2: I also wrote about her stalking us in my TR.

Anyway, all of the dresses you postes are so different! But all very beautiful. Pick which one you feel "right" in, you'll know it when it happens.

Also, I believe that Escape brides can now be married in Canada in EPCOT....just wanted to throw that out there in case you were interested!

I love the shoes! Too cute! And the ADR's! Aww....

Can't wait to hear more! :cutie:

I must have needed more coffee when I posted! :lmao:

Oh man I'm hooked! Target, Disney, Cleveland, Up.. I can't wait to hear more of your plans! We had some Up elements in our wedding, too. I even mentioned "our adventure" in my vows :goodvibes Your save-the-dates are fabulous!

Ok, that's what I thought... but I hadn't mentioned our reservations. So, I thought it meant something else. :rotfl: Lack of coffee can do that!

The Beach!

When I told my amazing wedding coordinator that I really wanted an outdoor wedding she called me right away to discuss our options. She followed up by sending me pictures of each of the locations that are available.

Option One: Picture Point

image005.jpg

image004.jpg

Option Two: The Wedding Pavilion Beach

image003.jpg

locationcircle.jpg

Option Three: The Summer House Patio

mail.jpg

The pictures helped solidify my decision that I wanted it on the beach! The aqua circle around the two palm trees is where I want to stand; so that the palm trees and the beach are behind us. Basically, just shifting the ceremony to the left of where it is being shown.

She also warned me that September is still summer in Florida and that it will be HOT! It's so far at the end of September that the likelihood of it getting in the 90's is very slim. My guests can brave it for the half hour tops that they'll be outside for the ceremony! Besides I plan to equip them with sunscreen, bug spray, fans, and parasols for their battle with the heat!

Now we just have to nail down a time. I initially picked the noon slot because I figured we have the best chance of avoiding rain at that time. However, I wasn't taking into consideration that noon light is the harshest and the absolute worst time of day to take pictures outdoors. Also I may have to travel off property to get my hair and makeup done and I'm concerned I won't have enough time to get ready in the morning. Past or Future Dis-brides, any recommendations?
