Dandruff

I use Pert Plus Dandruff control every other day and it smells great and works like a champ!

Oh, and I use Pantene on the other days.

:)

My DH uses Head and Shoulders and it really works for him.:D

Try 1 of the above shampoos first for 1 month. If it doesn't start to work by then then try Neutrogena Dandruff Shampoo and conditioner. It's a bit more aggressive so it should be the second thing you try, not the first. If you do need it then alternate it with a deep moisturizing shampoo.

Pantene makes a 2 in 1 Anti Dandruff shampoo that has worked well in our house. Other things we've been told were don't wash daily unless you absolutely must, just rinse on alternating days. Also, don't use too hot water, it drys your scalp out. And if regular shampoo doesn't work after a month or so Neutrogena makes an extra strength shampoo with coal tar in it, and it works really well for bad cases of flakes or psoriasis or similar conditions.

I didn't know about the hot water, maybe that is the cause because we raised the temperature of our water. Will look into some of the products mentioned, thanks.

Also, the shampoo you are using might be causing the flakes, instead of dandruff.
We had that problem for a little while with a really good cheap shampoo, Suave. I love the tropical scent, but we cannot use it every day because it causes a flaky scalp.
I alternate with a couple other shampoos.

I found that to be true as well. My hair stylist recently recommended me to switch to a new shampoo (cost the same as what I previously used) and I noticed a huge difference all over with my hair. So it very well could just be the shampoo you are using itself.

also, sometimes it is not really dandruff, but other scalp conditions. if nothing seems to be working go to a dermatologist -they can get you prescription strength stuff. :)

Nizoral is available OTC now. It used to be prescription, but now it is just with other shampoos. You are supposed to use it only a couple of times a week and use your regular shampoo the other days.

I keep my hair short because of this...
There are times I want to shave my head...

Try a different shampoo first; then try Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo; I used to get dandruff sporatically, and I would use that shampoo for awhile, or a couple times a week and it would clear it up.
