Dancing Deer Baking Co. Gingerbread House? Anyone?? !!PICTURE POSTED!!

Has anyone ever made the Dancing Deer Co. Gingerbread House? You mix the flour, chill, roll, cut and bake.

I'm doing this right now and thought I'd ask if anyone here has made one, to see how it turned out.

Here is the picture of the finished product. I let my 5 year old go crazy and do what she wanted. This was definitely more work than the pre made house but the gingerbread is soooo good! The dough was so delicious we almost ate too much and risked not having enough for the house! The icing was different, almost like the consistency of marshmallow cream and hardened slower than the pre fab gb house icing.

If you decide to make this and want some pointers feel free to PM me. I think it will be worth it when New Years Eve comes and we eat it (we always wait until NY eve to eat the Gingerbread house -- or trash it whichever we decide to do!)

That sounds like fun, I bet the house smells wonderful! We usually do a gingerbread house kit where everything is already made. We just put it together. Where did you buy that at? I have never heard of the name.

We usually buy the premade kind too, but this year I decided to be adventurous! Also, we like to eat it and the pre made kind is rock hard and almost inedible. I like Dancing Deer cookies, so I thought I'd give this a try. I got the kit at Whole Foods. We bought the candy separately.

I'll let you know how it turns out! I'll even post a picture!

Yep, I know...rock hard. I let the kids eat the candy off of it and thats about it LOL

Gingerbread houses are always fun! If you want to save money, make your own dough and use a cereal box to make the pattern pieces....2 rectangular roof pieces, 2 rectangular side pieces (cut out windows before you bake) and a front and back piece with the A-shaped roof (cut out a front door and a back window before you bake). Stick it all together with royal icing (if you don't have a pastry bag you can use a baggie with a small hole cut in the corner). Makes a great scented centerpiece throughout the holidays and of course, it's yummy to eat too!

Thanks! But, well, it kind of looks like a mess of frosting and candy but she had fun doing it and is very proud of it!
