Glad your back......

That is just sooooo Cherie and DJ!!!!:lmao:

Thank you, Liesa! I'm ok with it 99% of the time and I know one day I will learn the reason why for all things but like I've said before, patience isn't one of my strong points.

I'm not sure it's anyone's strong point, Cherie. I pray for more everyday!

Anyway. I can't remember your daughter's name... sorry long term memory is also not one of my strong points... but is she starting to sport the sultry look??

I love the Oregon Coast, and my DH's cousin has a beach house. You just let me know when you want to go after I get back, and we'll have a ladies weekend over there in Lincoln City! Cynthia, Tammie and Toni can join us, and we can yak up Disney, and kids, and work, and lady stuff, for hours!! And don't forget the outlet stores ;)

So glad you were able to shed tears. Those are very therapeutic! There are so many people around the world who don't have a place to go to grieve- I'm glad you do!

I thought about you too! I couldn't remember where you lived, just somewhere around portland. We went to the Albany area then over to Newport up the coast to Tillamook and then back to portland.

We are in Salem... So not too far North of Albany...

Did you swing by the Tillamook Cheese Factory?? My kids love it there...

So...it's 12:30 a.m. and I am in a hotel in Portland Oregon......

Was this a planned trip you ask? nope... I'm a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl.

As D.Jay and I were working on a huge hole that had to be dug so the new basement windows could be put in, I had a sudden flash hit me with the idea...and no, it wasn't a hot flash.

There are several reasons for where we went , all of them including family. Tomorrow...well, actually today I am taking my kids to my Mother's grave. I've only been there once about 16 years ago.

Over the last year I've felt like it's something I need to do for myself. I won't go into all of the reasons because I don't even understand why. As some of you know my mom passed away when I was 18 months old. I have no memories of her and yet I miss her. Every few years it hits me and I spend a few months feeling a little lost.

I'm also visitng some cousins that I haven't seen in years and my aunt, who was one of my mom's best friends. I just need to talk to someone who knew and remembers her.

It will be good...there will be a lot of blubbering but I know this is what I need. My great grandparents are burried next to her along with an uncle. I was lucky enough to grow up across the street from my great grandparents and they lived untill my early 20's. When my mom died they bought the plots next to her . that's love, because they are my dad's grandparents. Both my dad's and her family adored her and when they talk about her it's like she was already an angel.

O.K. now that I've got that out of my system maybe I can sleep tonght.

Sunday we are spending the day at the beach....my second favorite vacation spot...there's nothing like the northwest coast.:goodvibes

oh, and the hair brained vacation plan.....well, it involves 3 weeks, 13 states and a mother in law...who no matter how hard she hints...will not be going. Throw in a mini van and 6 bodies and you've got the perfect recipe for the next vacation movie.

Nothing like a spur of the moment trip... just because it's what you need to do! I've been loving seeing the pics!

We survived 6 of us (multiple in laws but not in the van) 8 states, 3400 miles in one minivan over 2 weeks..it was a blast! I can't wait to hear about the plan.

Cherie, big hugs for your emotional visit this weekend! :goodvibes

Do the Northwest Coast beaches look just like they do in Twilight?

I cannot wait to hear more about this trip that includes 13 states!!! :lmao:

Yes and no...the sand on the OR Coast is a billion times softer than that up near Forks, WA where Twilight was set.

Water is equally as mind numbingly cold though.

I'm not sure it's anyone's strong point, Cherie. I pray for more everyday!

Anyway. I can't remember your daughter's name... sorry long term memory is also not one of my strong points... but is she starting to sport the sultry look??

So glad you were able to shed tears. Those are very therapeutic! There are so many people around the world who don't have a place to go to grieve- I'm glad you do!

We used to go to Lincoln City every summer when I was very small, with my biological mother and my dad, I have some very very fond memories of it!

and...did you say BEACH HOUSE? I'm so in.

We are in Salem... So not too far North of Albany...

Did you swing by the Tillamook Cheese Factory?? My kids love it there...

:thumbsup2 to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Our kids have never been but I have the best memories of it and plan to take them one of these days. We'd hoped to do an Oregon Coast trip last year but it just didn't work out, maybe next summer!

What amazing pictures of you and the family.

I'm glad you have somewhere you can grieve.

There is also nothing like the bond between a mom and her kids. I have an amazing bond with my mom and cherish it every day. And hope I am instilling the same bond with my own son.

Great photos Cherie! I'm glad you were able to recharge and enjoy some family time.

Cherie great pics of you and your family, sounds like a needed trip and glad you feel stronger for it.

Sunday morning arrived and we slept in *gasp*. For me to sleep in on vacation is a miracle and probably an answer to D.jay's prayers.

The goal for the day was a trip to DTD followed by EMH at MK with the "gang".

Around 11 I spun the taxi wheel of fortune and hopped in a cab to DTD. Our driver barely acknowledged our existence, let alone the fact that we were actually sitting and breathing in the back seat of his car. He was so wrapped up in his phone conversation which was in a language I couldn't place, I was sure we were going to be in Cuba before he came stopped to breathe. I can normally recognize what language someone is speaking, but this was a new one for me.

The hapless tourist in the taxi gods were good to us and we arrived at DTD without a glimpse of the atlantic or wishing I had worn astronaut diapers.

After paying the taxi driver and saying thank you in every language I could think of...we headed for Wolfgang Puk's. this was our first time here and we were excited to try it.

D.jay ordered this.............I think it was ravioli of some sort with expensive meatballs..

I ordered the pecan crusted chicken...

2009-04-27108.jpg

It was sooooo good! The sauce that was served with it was heavenly...quite appropriate for sunday afternoon.:thumbsup2

I also remembered to pull this little guy out of my Vera....

2009-04-27103.jpg

This is Susan's son Jeff who is on a mission. He came to visit me and make the trip to disney...I was a bad, bad flat sitter.....he spent way too much time forgotten in my vera bag.:sad2:

Anyhoo, he looked a little dry, so we gave him a drink.

I managed to waddle out of the restraunt after practically licking my plate, and decided to catch a movie...I was determined to relax this trip...even if it killed me or put me to sleep.

About 15 minutes into the movie, which I had been dying to see, I passed out and woke up for the last 10. D.Jay says it was a good movie. I just had a $10 nap.

Refreshed from my nap, we headed for the shops to do a little shopping and then we were off to Epcot for a little fun and dinner adr.

up next....a haunting at the haunted mansion...

OOOOO aquarium.....:squirrel:

I have some questions for you about williamsburg!

Oh wow! Are you thinking about coming all the way out here?? Fire away!

Glad you had a wonderful trip, Cherie. Sounds like it soothed the soul and created some wonderful family memories. The pictures were both hilarious and touching. :goodvibes

Oops! Almost missed the TR update!

Both of your meals looked delicious! :thumbsup2

I saw the picture before I read your comment and I said, "Hey! I know that guy! That's Liz's son!" I read her TR many moons back. :goodvibes

Cherie, I have followed along with all your TR's but don't think I have posted much. I just had to comment on your trip to Oregon. Your story of your mother brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad you had a chance to visit your aunt and celebrate her life for a day!

The picutures of the kids at the beach are wonderful, they are growing up so quickly, especially Bailey! My first vacation with my hubby was to Oregon when we had been dating only a couple months and I have such great memories of that trip, it sure is beautiful there!

Hey Cherie,
There are so many talented trip report writers on the DIS and you are no exception. I love your humor and the love you have for your family. Your Easter weekend pictures are incredible!

Looking forward to more.....

I have some questions for you about williamsburg!

This wasn't addressed to me, but I've been there a couple of times. My recommendations for you would be:

1) dinner at the King's Arms (delicious)
2) see an 18th century play (hilarious) check out their events calendar

Morning Cherie !! The food at WGP looked wonderful !! :cloud9:Was that the TS restaurant or CS !!! :confused3I know later in the trip we enjoyed a very good cs meal at WGP !!!
Expect you've heard I am OFF in June on my first Escort job !!!:rotfl2:! The Elvis Weekend !!!:rotfl2: Now if anyone has any tips on good but reasonable places to eat or things to see we have a lot of lattitude in sightseeing and eating !! Best part is for Carol and I it is FREE!!

Yeah, Anara's name often times resembles something like AndrewrebekahmichaelazachoooooooooooooooooohhhhYOU!!!!

Yippee!!! I get to try WGPE too!!! Hooray!! It all looks so good!

Glad you didn't have any taxi mishaps this time! Both of the dishes look delicious!
