Are you ready for DAY 4 part 1?
Well here we go. Sorry to say but I had no real anticipation of visiting Nassau. It was real cool though watching the Captain back the ship into dock rather then pull in like the other two ships already in dock. We were ready for a quick get away incase the natives got restless
. Also we had a better view of everything from our veranda. Seeing Atlantis in the distance was cool. That place must be amazing. Vacationing for the ultra rich. When did they find it? I knew it was lost awhile back
. A little more in our price range was probably the private looking beach in front of the nice hotel to our right. Next to the tourist trap called the straw market. Many go in but few leave
. With money left that is. My suggestion, avoid at all cost. Just ask Dawn.
We started out by having room service breakfast. A great deal for only a couple dollar tip. We received donuts, english muffins, fruits, juice, beer and coffee. Just kidding about the beer. Wanted to see if you were paying attention. After eating and cleaning up we headed out for destinations unknown
. Actually we knew which stores we wanted to go to just not sure were they were. It was rather alarming and awakening to see a military person standing between the ship and customs building. Toto we aren't in Kansas anymore. When you enter the building you have people asking you to join their excursion or take a carriage/ taxi ride or even braid your hair. Thank goodness my hair is too short to braid. It even got worse outside. We even had a youngster offer to sing a song for a dollar. The next Elvis? Maybe we should have seen if he could even sing. These people are nuts behind the wheels of a car. They drive all over the road and stop anytime they want. Who in the world would let just anybody ride a scooter? I guess as long as you had money they would let you ride. Some of those people were hazardous just sitting still.
Happily we found the stores we wanted with in close proximity. We shopped at the Harley (you knew that was happening), Hard Rock Café and Del Sol shops (no purchase). While walking around I spotted a newspaper vendor and had to buy a local paper. Ok, two different local papers. I couldnt believe they had one, let alone two local papers. While there I asked the lady what the three salmon colored buildings were across the street. They were in a U shape. The one on the right was Parliament. The one straight ahead was the art museum and the one on the left was the Speaker of the Houses house. They were a LOT smaller (and run down) then what we are used too. Patty has pictures of them. The streets and sidewalks were in disrepair as were some of the outside buildings. Well enough, back to the ship. We have a Vow Renewal to attend. OURS!!!!
