Dale's Not So Scary trip report 09/07-09/11

Are you ready for DAY 4 part 1?:confused3 Well here we go. Sorry to say but I had no real anticipation of visiting Nassau. It was real cool though watching the Captain back the ship into dock rather then pull in like the other two ships already in dock. We were ready for a quick get away incase the natives got restless:scared1: . Also we had a better view of everything from our veranda. Seeing Atlantis in the distance was cool. That place must be amazing. Vacationing for the ultra rich. When did they find it? I knew it was lost awhile back:laughing: . A little more in our price range was probably the private looking beach in front of the nice hotel to our right. Next to the tourist trap called the straw market. Many go in but few leave:scared1: . With money left that is. My suggestion, avoid at all cost. Just ask Dawn.

We started out by having room service breakfast. A great deal for only a couple dollar tip. We received donuts, english muffins, fruits, juice, beer and coffee. Just kidding about the beer. Wanted to see if you were paying attention. After eating and cleaning up we headed out for destinations unknown:confused3 . Actually we knew which stores we wanted to go to just not sure were they were. It was rather alarming and awakening to see a military person standing between the ship and customs building. Toto we aren't in Kansas anymore. When you enter the building you have people asking you to join their excursion or take a carriage/ taxi ride or even braid your hair. Thank goodness my hair is too short to braid. It even got worse outside. We even had a youngster offer to sing a song for a dollar. The next Elvis? Maybe we should have seen if he could even sing. These people are nuts behind the wheels of a car. They drive all over the road and stop anytime they want. Who in the world would let just anybody ride a scooter? I guess as long as you had money they would let you ride. Some of those people were hazardous just sitting still.

Happily we found the stores we wanted with in close proximity. We shopped at the Harley (you knew that was happening), Hard Rock Café and Del Sol shops (no purchase). While walking around I spotted a newspaper vendor and had to buy a local paper. Ok, two different local papers. I couldn’t believe they had one, let alone two local papers. While there I asked the lady what the three salmon colored buildings were across the street. They were in a U shape. The one on the right was Parliament. The one straight ahead was the art museum and the one on the left was the Speaker of the House’s house. They were a LOT smaller (and run down) then what we are used too. Patty has pictures of them. The streets and sidewalks were in disrepair as were some of the outside buildings. Well enough, back to the ship. We have a Vow Renewal to attend. OURS!!!!:yay: Tomorrow part 2:cool1:

DAY 4 part 2; Welcome back readers:surfweb: . Thanks for hanging in there with us:3dglasses . I hope you are enjoying this atleast a little bit as much as we did. After we ate lunch Patty headed off to get her hair styled :scared1: (cool look hah). I went to the gym to loose the few extra pounds i ate already today. Her hair looked WOW:banana: . Eventually i had to leave for to wait for Pattys grand entrance. I couldn't wait to see this gown that people had been raving about:woohoo: . We origionally were to have our ceremony on the hidden deck. Due to wind conditions it was decided to move it to the Cadillac lounge:headache: . Turned out to be a great idea. The loung was decorated beautifully. There was a piano player, gazebo and flower petals everywhere. A seperate table was even set up for our sand ceremony. Ofcourse there was the cake with Mickey and Minnie on top (they aren't married are they?). Once again Disney did a "Wonder" ful job. Personality wise the Captain was a little on the cold side, but thats ok. It was brightened up by our new found friends Corinna, Dawn and Karen (the happy picture taker). Boy, when i saw Patty in her gown! :yay: :rolleyes1  :cool1: :worship: :thumbsup2 . Hubba hubba was she hot looking (wink wink). The ceremony proceeded without a hitch from the music to us repeating our vows (ok somebody choked up) to our dance (first), our three friends sharing this time with us and eating the cake. All was "Wonder" ful. The photographer was excellant. Patty had been told to ask for a proffesional not somebody earning their ears. I know they have to learn sometime, but, not on my watch (dime) (whatever phrase you want to use). Her name was Josephine and she must have taken over 100 pictures. Some were specially framed and some were black and whites. Now it was time for our special dinner at Palos. What can i say? The food and company and server were great. Especially the company:hug: . Patty can describe the deserts to you better then me but think of the aroma of sweet melted delicious creamy warm chocolate. Hungry now? Some point during the day room service dropped off a bottle of champagne to our room. Has anybody ever heard of Boones Farm (hah just kidding)? How about Dom Perignon? Well it wasn't that either. I think it was Korbel. Next up DAY 5 Castaway Cay (key)

Thanks Honey!!!!

I loved getting my hair done (something I've never done before) so it was such a treat. And to be able to hold off letting you see my dress (or more specifically, me in my dress), that was harder but so worth it to see your face.

I can't believe I missed the Hard Rock AND the Del sol! :scared1: I probably was to tramatized from the straw market to notice. I love reading this trip report! Patty was so beautiful in her dress! Your vow renewel was a very special thing to be a part of. Thank you for letting me share that with you.

Our pleasure Dawn. I was begining to wonder if anybody was reading these posts. We should all plan a reunion cruise. How about December:lmao: :cool1: Thats ok we need several years to save up. But it's never to late to start saving.

Dawn, I want to thank you too for being a part of our special day. It was so nice to meet up with people on the ship that we've chatted with, like you said, meeting up with old friends.

We are already saving our change (this is one little way to save), but we are seriously looking into DVC and if so, we 'may' cruise again but with 'points'

Excellent reviews. (I do like Patty's better though ;) ) It is interesting to read different perspctives though too.

I'm reading too!!!

And, thank you guys so much for letting me attend the vow renewal.....it was truely magical and beautiful to see two people reannounce their love for each other!!

The Happy Picture Taker!!! :rotfl:

As a side note, I had a heck of a time with my camera on our vacation and only took around 400 pictures....I probably would have had double if the darn thing would have worked right! But, ya know......that just means we have to go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That settles it Karen, it's time for a "Dis-Board" reunion.:cool1: :thumbsup2 Who's going to head up the commitee? Volunteers?

ONLY took 400 pictures? I am starting to feel ashamed because I think all I took was about 45. hehe

I'm up for a reunion! :goodvibes Day and Time? ;) :)

Can you say "all pics no play". :rotfl2: Ok folks:worship: how about a Dis-Board reunion in 2 years? Roughly same dates. :confused3 Think we could pull it off?

Did anyone book a cruise while onboard? We booked a dummy date for next year......I'm kinda anxious to hear where the special cruises will be for 2010/2011 and where the 2 new ships will be saying......I went to the DVC talk on board and Emil said it was no coinicidence that they were building DVC in California and in Hawaii and that 2 new ships were coming out......anyone for a Hawaiian cruise???? :cool1:

I'm in.....even if I have to work four jobs and sell our furniture! ;) Chris will be 12....that is another mile stone birthday, right? How about a seven night cruise next time?

Just thought I'd let you know I am reading this trip report too. I am enjoying both of your trip reports. It's nice to get two points of view for the same trip.:)

Karen we did not (wish we had) but it looks like we will be buying into DVC (Disney Vacation Club) so a cruise is not that far out of the reach, if we use points for part of it.

Dawn, two years sounds great, yea 12, another milestone, lol. I would love to do one of the longer cruises! (my dream is the Panama Crossing one).

Thanks for stopping by Kelly. I want to see pics if you aren't going to do a report this time.

I love both views on your trip Report.. It is awsome
Welcome aboard. Hubby is very quick to come up with his TR, but me on the other hand, I'm SLOW! Not that I dont' want to do it, I DO!!!!

I've been working on our 200 plus photopass pics that had to be edited so I could order that cd. All the pics I took (and honestly don't know how many, but LOTS of self-portraits since it was just us) to be uploaded so I can edit them and get prints made so, SOMEDAY, I'll be able to scrap them. And finally the BIG project right now is scanning in TONS of very old photos to make a photobook for my grandfather who will be 100 in three weeks. :scared1: That's the one I've got to get done so I can get it ordered in time for his party.

I promise I'll be back soon with an update on 'my version' of our trip!

Do they have photopass on the ship???? Or is that from a trip to the world?
