Dairy Farmers Wife IS going to Disney in March/April!

Awwwww poor Claire! I feel so bad for her. :sad1:

Did you tell her that there will be a trip coming up soon?

I did. I told her we would probably be going in the spring. And thats when she cried about not going to Mickey's Christmas party.
I have been trying to figure out what to do. I wish I could get a cheap flight in March, but everything is higher then. I thought if we did, maybe we could just go to Universal for 3 nights. My mom has Marriott points and told me she could most likely get us a couple of nights at a Fairfield inn. Then we could just get tickets and spend a few days there and kill the itch to do something, and then plan a big trip for next Dec. But the flights are killing me right now.

OH, I have to add this too. I was looking at 3 days cruises for next Dec. Yesterday they were $850 for the 3 of us in the lowest cat. Today they went up $300!

Sorry to hear you postponed your trip. I can totally empathize with you!:goodvibes But I'm glad to hear your DH has a date for his hip surgery, only about a month away so that's great!

Poor little Claire! It's so hard when our kids are sick, my DD9 was sick all day yesterday. I hope she feels better soon.:goodvibes

I know it stinks to have canceled a trip but now you can look forward to planning another one. Maybe May will be a nice time for you, the Flower and Garden Festival will be going on, which I think runs from March till the end of May. That would be a gorgeous time to go. I can understand your disappointment about missing the MK party, we were supposed to have gone to the MNSSHP and I sad to have missed it.

And of course, maybe Skip will be feeling so much better after this surgery that he'll be open to either 2 Disney trips next year or one that is longer than what you had planned!:thumbsup2 Just keep parading Claire around with her sweet princess dresses on, he'll cave in!:goodvibes

Keep watching the flights. they seem to fluctuate alot. March is an expensive flight month because of spring breaks.. do you use kayak.com? I like that site.

Have you considered driving to Disney? I don't know where in Ohio you are but maybe it's doable?:confused3

I would love to go in May, but for Skip, thats planting season, and I know there would be no way to ever get him to go then. He uses the cows for an excuse all the time, but I do know that there a certain times when he really is busier. I would say that May is pretty much a guarantee of a no from him. The fall is really iffy when it comes to harvest. They have been done completely for a week now, but that is usually unheard of. A lot of times they are still going strong in mid Nov. In fact the last 2 years, we could've most likely gone in Oct between things, but this year, there would've been no way. But we never know till the time comes.

It takes at good 20 hours to go each way. I have done it in the past, but it is a LONG trip and then we miss some park days. So it's pretty much out of the question. With Claire we would need to take 2 days each way. And Skip is always wanting to be there as short of a time as possible. He can't leave for too long and his brother goes nuts when we are gone.

I can never figure out how to use Kayak. LOL!
WE have flow early March the last 3 trips and all 3 times we got decent flight prices. So I'll keep watching. But I think in the end, we will do a full Disney trip, and then possibly go back at Christmas time in 2012?

I'm sorry Claire took it so hard. :sad1:

On the air fares, I think they always start high then fine tune the closer it gets. Our December fares started out really high and have edged down over time. I think that lets the airlines hedge their bets.

Jen, Have you checked flights out Dayton???? Airtran is cheap -- I don't know if you have airtran up there where you are at.
Good Luck with your plans...I hope when you go in December we could do a greet and meet.
Put Skip in a scooter and take him when he is healine :-) everyone uses scooters why not at this time.

Thats what I'm hoping for.

I never thought about Dayton, but it could be doable too.

Jen, I live here in Dayton and use airtran alot to go to disney...
they have direct flights to orlando everyday,,,,, the one going is in the morning and coming back is at night.
good luck

Geez, I miss a couple days, and poof the trip is gone. Bummer.

Check out Yapta. I think it is similar to Kayak where you can keep track of flights. Once you buy, if the price drops enough you can get a refund through the site.

Bummer is the perfect word. The positive of this so far, is at least I know Skip is now open for a cruise again...A Disney cruise. So now to plot and plan to get on one. LOL!
I really have no idea when we will end up going. cruise or Disney. I know right now, he will tell me tha same ol thing. Lets wait and see. And at least we are on our way for some help for him, and this one bettter work!

Could you do both. You could do 4 days at WDW, then go on a 3 day cruise. As Hannah would say "You get the best of both worlds"

If we do both in Feb or March, it will cost us about 1000 more than ind Dec. The new ships is booking up fast and only higher catagories are left. Even if we wait, and go in Dec, those seem to be booking as well on the ship fast, and then we would have to get free dining again to make it affordable.
We talked a bit last night. And he said after his surgery we can make the decision, once we see how he is doing. He's all for going to WDW, but it's just wating to see how he heals. I would love to say he wil lbe fine, but since we had a bad experience once already, it's hard to be 100% sure.

I'm sorry to hear you are having to put everything on hold! I think a Disney cruise would be a ton of fun... but if you were going to do a combo trip, I would seriously consider cruising with someone other than Disney :scared1: I know, I know, it's sacriligous right? But seriously, Disney cruises are so much more expensive than other cruise lines. I just booked a cruise for May and I was talking to my cruise lady about it and she said there really is no reason why they are so much pricier... except it's Disney. I would LOVE to go on a Disney cruise sometime, but if cost is an issue... you could save enough money to spend a few days at WDW by cruising with another line. :rolleyes1

I have looked at other cruiselines too, and they are way cheaper. But the thing is I want what is on Disney. the characters, the experience, etc. I know some others do like Royal Caribbean better. But I think it depends on the ship too. Alot of te 3 and 4 day cruises in most other lines just aren't the nicer ships, while all of Disney ships keep up and are tip top. Just because you can go on a week long trip doesn't mean you should get ther better ship in my opinion. LOL! With Disney the newest ship is going to have the shortest route, which is nice. And al Disney ships are pretty much equal.
I have sailed NCL twice, and I like them alot. But they are not as family friendly when it comes to activities and shows. They are not awful, but just not the same.

I am with you. I think if we ever did a cruise again with the kids we would spend the extra and do Disney. Jon and I have been on 3 (4 day, 7 day and an 8day) Carnival cruises (B.C= before Children) and had an awesome time... But we had a different lifestyle then. We didn't have kids to worry about keeping occupied.

Hopefully you can find the perfect trip for you, Claire and Skip... that is once he is feeling better.

So sorry that everything fell apart. I feel sad for Claire but she will bounce back. I hear kids are resilient lol. I did the 4 Day cruise on the Wonder I think (what ever the newer ship was in 2000), and had a fantastic time. I have also been on Carnival and it was mediocre at best in comparison to Disney. Go with Disney, especially with a 6/7 year old (not sure how old she will be when the trip happens). I would love to do another Disney cruise just not sure I could get my friends to cough up the cash for it.
