I'm sorry things didn't work out. I cannot believe that the doctor has let it go this long with Skip. You must know that he is in pain and he is not making it up. I know it must be disappointing for you and Claire but maybe you can go in March again or maybe you can squeeze 2 trips out of Skip next year?

I really hope they fix up Skip and he can finally be pain free.

Thanks everyone. I know we need to get him in top shape, but it still hurts a bit about missing all the things I had planned. And I haven't told Claire yet. She was super excited about the cruise part. We had watched the Disney cruise DVD the other night and she kept saying "only 3 nights? How can we fit everything in in 3 nights?" LOL
I told him to get it done in Dec and he keeps saying he will wait till Jan. But then he realized that the Insurance deductible probably restarts on Jan 1, so now I think he is going to get it done as soon as they can fit him in. I told him he should demand to get in earlier, after all he has been getting the run around all this time.
So right now, I'm not sure when our trip will be. He is driving me nuts already with his changing his mind about when the surgery is, and one minute I'm a bad guy and the next I'm wonderful. I know he gets like that under stress, but he better watch it!

What a roller coaster ride you've been on these past few days! And it still hasn't ended! What an ordeal with the doctor too...ugh. You'd think that would have been one of the FIRST things they would have checked when he was complaining of the pain!

Something will work out at least - we know Skip wants to do vacation and is good with Disney, so that's GOOD...but when...where....what....sigh. I'm sorry Jen that all your plans are up in the air! I hope it works out for the best!

I am still searching for ideas. I know Claire has a spring break at the end of March and there are opening on the Disney dream for that time! LOL! But I am going to have to sit back for awhile I guess and just wait and see.

Aww Jen, honey I'm so sorry. This stressful situation you're in can't be good for you. I know you want Skip to be well, and at this point at least you've got a resolution, although it took the doctors too darn long to figure out! I would definitely encourage him to get it replaced sooner rather than later. Keep us posted on how everything goes.

Remember, Disney will always be there. Thank goodness, right?

Thanks everyone. I would love to go in May. Thats the time of year I went with Michael and Paige, but that is planting season. I would love to go in the fall, but that harvest. Actually he has an excuse for every time of the year. LOL!
I am not mad at Skip though. I am furious with the Dr for letting it go this long.
What I am a little mad about with Skip is the big baby he is about this. I understand he is in pain, but he made the decision to tell the Dr to postpone it without even asking me my input or discussing it.

Hi Jen. I'm so sorry about everything you've been through and that you've had to cancel. I can only imagine the heartbreak you are feeling. I hope they get it right this time!!!

I so understand that there is never a "convenient" time for travel for dairy farmers....they are breed apart--that's for sure. My DH is the same. We have to really WORK to find a time that we can get away from the farm. I hope you'll be able to figure something out. I've heard that Mother's day is a really nice time to go to WDW....

We did the Wonder cruise in 2009 and we LOVED it. I think you would really like it. They totally pamper you and there is a TON of things to do, no matter what you enjoy.

Thanks again. Today I took Claire on her field trip to the pumpkin patch. I was wearing one of my Disney sweatshirts and another mom said, "hey we are going to Disney over Christmas". So I then told her about our canceled trip. She was so sorry for us. And I am so jealous of her too. LOL!
The surgery is now officially scheduled for Dec 6.

I saw a thread on here once about a man who surprised his wife with a trip to Disney. I thought it was nutty because for me planning is half the fun. The fun anticipation of a SURE trip will be a gift in itself. Maybe they'll sell a pretty new red Belle dress you can pick up in the mean time to take........ whenever that is.

Ummmmm... I guess I am guilty of that. One of my Christmas gifts for my DW & DD was a trip to Disney and to see DWs grandparents in Florida. I had the resort and all ADRs picked out. I called her work and had someone take the time off or her. She wasn't at all disappointed. We did tweak a few ADRs before we went though.

You did give her warning ahead of time though. This guy was going to tell her at the airport. And he had just told her they were going on a trip, and the rest was a surprise till that day.

I think it's an incredibly sweet and thoughtful thing. But there are some, like myself, for whom the anticipation IS part of the gift.

And honestly, if my husband surprised me with a trip, I'd probably get over it REALLY fast..... but I do enjoy the planning, plotting and scheming too.

So even though you are sad about missing this one, you will have a fantastic time on the next one. I know you mention on my PTR that you wish you could do the deluxe, instead of going next March or May save a little longer and do the AKL the entire trip next time in December when you want to be there!

I hope you enjoy the costumes as much as we did! We got alot of use out of them and have special memories now. I was kind of sad to let them go, but then at the same time, what am I going to do with costumes sitting in a closet forever.
