Dairy Farmers Wife IS going to Disney in March/April!

Skip has to get his hip re-replaced! The said his new hip never adhered and it is moving around in the socket. So when we kept thinking he had all the same symptoms as those who had the recall hips, we were right! Because his has basically done what those have done. They are going to use a different kind this time around. I can't believe it took this long to get it all figured out.

He is NOT happy at the moment.

They were going to schedule it done for Dec 12th...Yep I said Dec 12th. the trip we have planned is Dec 8-15th. :rolleyes1

But my wonderful loving husband told them to wait till the beginning of next year so we could go on vacation!

That being said, he is grumpy right now, and we may not be paying it off today, which means I have to cancel the Pop portion until he gets in a better mood. I will wait till later and see for sure, but when I probed a little further about the trip, he said it's the last thing he's worried about right now.
So we are still in limbo, but the plan is to go at this point and time.

So sorry to hear about Skip's hip. Now maybe it can be corrected and he won't be in pain anymore.

Call WDW, they can give you an extension. I have had to do that before when we didn't have plans completely firmed up.

That's what I was going to suggest too. I actually paid this trip a couple days late and they didn't bat an eye.

Oh no! Your poor DH! Hopefully this second replacement will do the trick for him. How frustrating that must be to hear. I can understand his grumpiness then, who wants to have surgery for the same thing twice? Poor guy.

Well, sounds like good news then that he wants to hold off on surgery till after your vacation! I'm sure you'll get all the kinks worked out.:goodvibes

I wouldn't sweat it about paying off your trip by today though. They're pretty good about that kind of stuff if you explain your circumstances. I've also been told that they don't really get pushy about paying off your balance till you're 30 days out.:goodvibes

Oh Jen, I'm sorry to hear that he has to have hip replacement all over again. But, at least you now know what the problem is.

It was very sweet of him to postpon the surgery until after the first of the year so you could go to Disney. I'd do just like the others have said...call Disney and see if they can give you an extension. I've read others say they were given extensions.

So, if you do get to go, what is the plan on resorts? I totally forgot.

At least now you know what the problem is and hopefully it will be fixed properly this time!!!

Jen, I FINALLY caught up with you again! Your thread grows too fast for me! ;)

I was so sorry to hear about Skip's hip! I hope everything goes well when he has his operation!

Plus, I am keeping my fingers crossed you'll get the vacation you look forward to so much! :wizard:

So sorry to hear that Skip has to go through the surgery again! Hopefully this time they get it right! Just give him a bit to seethe, make his favorite dinner, have Claire sweet talk him, and he will perk right up. Like others have said, call Disney and explain. I once completely forgot to pay on the due date, and a couple days later I called them and they took my payment then. It wasn't really a problem at all.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and concerns. Thanks alot for that info on asking for an extension. I am on hold as we speak.
I still don't know exactly what we are going to do yet. And I hate bugging him when he is down. Now I hope if they extend it, and we decide to do the "other " option they will let me change our plans to less days if needed.
Hmmm weird, no Disney music playing while on hold. Complete silence.

OK, I can go without paying, BUT if we would cancel it we would lose $100. I don't think she understood me when I asked about less nights though.

I called back and was told if we kept it the way it is, there would be a $50 charge to modify the reservation. I don't know what to do. I guess I'll wait a few more hours and then cancel. Since I don't know if we are going for the whole stay or just a portion. Or maybe just modify it now and then if we decide to do the full portion, see what I can get instead and pay the $50? I hate this pressure. LOL!

I hate to say it but I canceled Pop. Had to do it. I am also putting out the offer of just going in the spring after the surgery and he's healed....knock on wood. As much as I hate to not go at Christmas time, I think I will hear a lot of complaining by him about it and how he is a martyr. (it's already started) I do want him better, and I just knew this is what would happened. I guess this Dr has now done 7 other of the same surgeries over. I am very disappointed in it all, but this is what fate dealt me, so I gotta suck it up. And hopefully we can get him healed. My other thought was to maybe wait till next Christmas, but I think I would drive myself completely batty! LOL!
so everything is still up in the air again! But I'm not going to be the bad guy here.

It's all so complicated isn't it! Well I applaud you for doing what you felt was right, instead of what you wanted to do! I am sure it will all work out in the end!

Ah, heck Jen. I'm sorry.

But ultimately you'll know you did the right thing. I know you want to fully enjoy the trip, and not feel guilty (or be made to feel guilty) for the whole thing. At least you'll get to fully enjoy the planning phase now too instead of worrying it away with uncertainty.

Hang in there. I'm hoping for the best for you guys.

Oh Jen, I am so very sorry. I hated to hear that it's not going to work out for you. But, like you said, you could always book another trip for another time of year.

Keep in mind that I was able to get free dining for the last week of May. Could you possibly go then? I think you have until December 2nd to book the package.

Awww I'm sorry it didn't work out. You could book now for next Dec and our trip reports could help you plan... plus if you could talk him into it maybe you could go for a long weekend in the spring

Thanks everyone. I would love to go in May. Thats the time of year I went with Michael and Paige, but that is planting season. I would love to go in the fall, but that harvest. Actually he has an excuse for every time of the year. LOL!
I am not mad at Skip though. I am furious with the Dr for letting it go this long.
What I am a little mad about with Skip is the big baby he is about this. I understand he is in pain, but he made the decision to tell the Dr to postpone it without even asking me my input or discussing it. And now it's my fault. I just know how he is about things like this. I will be ungrateful for the huge sacrifice he's made. etc. And he gets that trait honestly....his mother is the queen of this. :rolleyes1
He is a wonderful guy don't get me wrong, but he is also the biggest baby I know. I should probably stop writing ,or I may start typing mean things. LOL! I will get over it.

Oh, I'll spill thee beans on the other idea we were thinking of. And I think this is the one that would've been what we went with......

It was the Disney cruise. The 3 night on the wonder. It came up really close to the same price as just going to Disney if we stayed in Cat 12, and Skip decided it was something he wanted to do so he wouldn't get bored. I was a quickie, but it would give us a taste of it.

I'm sorry things aren't working out the way you had hoped. I hope that this surgery will fix your DH, so this isn't ever a factor again.

I'm still hoping something will work out and you can get yourselves to Disney!:)

I am so sorry Skip has to have another replacement. Sometimes things just aren't fair, are they?!? I am also sorry that you had to cancel your plans but I SO understand where you are coming from. Hopefully you will be able to figure out another trip very soon!

I'm so sorry!:guilty: I was looking forward to (hopefully) meeting you guys! But sometimes marriage means sacrificing... and I totally understand about the martyr thing... :snooty: I'd rather stay home than deal with that!!!
