Dairy Farmers Wife IS going to Disney in March/April!

So not alot has been going on here to update about, really.

We talked about it last night and decided that we probably won't hit Universal, because it will still most likely be busy with the New Harry Potter world, and we just don't want to wait in really long lines, and that is the main thing I would want to see there. So for now, the thought is to wait a few more years for that.

I mentioned to Skip the other day that there was a week in March that we could get free dining....his reply...Free dining is a rip off, It only cost Disney 6 bucks a plate......My reply to him was....that may be true, but they will still charge us $20+ a plate, so wouldn't it be better to get it for free or less? They won't say, hey there's Skip and he knows our secret, so lets charge him less..... LOL! :lmao:

He also talked to one of his reps last week who was in Florida at the time. He had gone to AK, and a few other parks. He told Skip he could possible get us a stay at his timeshare....I told Skip "No way". We won't save much, with having to pay for food and parking, and no access to EMH's, (Skip loves the evening one at MK), and we won't get totally immersed into Disney either. He brought it up again last night, but I reminded him, that his wife won't let him. LOL!

WE are most likely going in March, if the surgery goes well. The dates are sketchy now, but I did put a deposit down for March 2, so we could get free dining if we go then. And that seems to be the best deal right now for that time. We just have to decide for sure by mid Jan.
I have also made a few ADRs fo now, just in case, so we can get places that I want to go to. I am flirting with the idea of upgrading to deluxe dining as well. But still need to think about that.
Another idea I am flirting with is taking Claire to the Prefectly Princess tea Party...the $250 one. I just read an amazing review of it, and I know she would LOVE it. But I am not sure I want to spend that kind of money. So I will mull it over and see how things go.

I hope you get to go in March!!I felt the same way about Universal but my hubby really wants to go ...so we are going. I think we may just skip Harry Potter all together...even though I am dying to see it..but I think the rest of the parks may be quiet so we should be able to see alot.

Skip sounds like my George.

George recognizes that the free dining is the best discount for our family of five, but at full rack room rate prices he's always quick to say it's not really free dining, they're just getting our money through the rooms instead. Sigh!

I'm with you on the timeshare non option too. It's just not the same for us as staying on property and we've ruled it out of ways to cut costs. Too many perks are lost.

I've read a few TRs that went to WWoHP and while I'm dying to go there, I'm glad we opted against it this trip. It'll be a few years before we get there too.

I really hope you get to go in March!

Thats exaclty Skips way of thinking. He says they are still making money, and it's true, but wouldn't you rather pay less than complete full price for everything?
When we went in 2009 we had 2 nights free, and then we got a $200 gift card. He kept saying it wasn't really a deal. I said, well they are making money, but at least we aren't paying complete full price and it was better than the 10% off that AAA would've gave us. He loves to be Debbie Downer at times. Yet when a friend offers him a way to save money, he's all over it. I guess he thinks my hours spent on here trying to find the best deals, are useless and I don't know what I am talking about. :scared1:

No kidding! I get grief but he makes me laugh though because if someone asks him questions about Disney because they want to go, he always tells them to stay on property, go during free dining, do this, do that.... all the stuff I've found on here.

YES! Skip will brag me up about my knowledge at times to others too.

I find it hard to even consider going at a time when free dining isn't offered! :lmao: It's just such a good deal, and you definitely save money. I like free dining during value season best because then you still have cheap hotel rates too. That's why I think I am going to book for 9/29/11, the last day of free dining that's published for next fall... Just in case... :rotfl:

I think I saw the same review, and I got me thinking. I just don't know if I can justify $250 to the DH:confused3

I've lost a few post lately:mad:so I have been typing up the long ones in WORD, or I copy before I hit submit.

I went "looking" at chirstmas dresses today, ( walmarts are ugly!) I have a Burlington Coat Factory close by and they carry the Cinderella line. I've gotten quite a few dresses for Kadence there. The more frilly and poofy the better:cutie:

Hi! We got back from our trip to the world on 10/24 and it took me forever to get caught up with everything at home and the disboards. I'm so sorry your trip for Dec. didn't work out and that Skip has to have another surgery but I hope it works this time and he will be out of pain once and for all! Its great news that you still get to take a trip in March that sounds like a good time to go not to hot. I hope everything works out for you guys and can't wait to hear your new plans!

I know,we always go in March, but rack rate is sooo much higher then. I wish we could go during the Value seasons...well we almost did. I just don't think I could put the trip off for another year though. I would go MAD!

Wasn't that review fabulous!
I saw Walmarts too. Very unimpressed. I think we have a Burlington near us, but I never have been in it. I should check it out some day. How much were they selling there Cinderella's for? I think JC Pennys is $65, but on sale they were $35.

The review was awesome! After I read it, I showed my DH &DD. He did say that it seems alot is included in the price:idea:

The Cinderella line at Burlington goes anywherefrom $24 to $38. This year Kadence asked if we could get the dress that comes with a identical one for her doll.
The Burlington here is huge, with more clothes for kids than adults, and of course coats! I find alot of great deals for Kadence and it's nice stuff. Last year I got her a coat/snowpants set from Ohskosh B' Gosh for $28 on clearance.

If I get a chance, I'll post some of Kadence past dresses.

Thats great. My DH would say it's too much, but then again at Disney he's usually not so bad.
Claire loves the dresses that come with doll dresses too, though I think she is now outgrown the size range that comes with them. She had to get size 7 this year. We tried a 6X and it was so much smaller than the 7. Not sure why it was so much smaller, but I guess my child is just growing too fast!
I'll have to get her to try them on and take some pictures. I have a ton of pictures on my camera yet though, that I haven't even put on the computer yet. :rolleyes1

Hey jen-

Thanks for posting that link for the tea party. What a great review!

What are the dates you are thinking of in March? The first week?

Have you heard anything from MAW about going to it? I really want to take Claire now, but I gotta think that one over.

I am thinking March 2 -9. That way we get in with free dining. We'll have to wait and see though. But it should work out, unless Skip wants to be stuborn about it. We went the first week in the past for 2 trips and we did fine, but then the 3rd one he had to mix it up and go the 2nd week. I guess it will depend on deals tto. Who knows if Disney will offer anything else this coming up year.

I know you are thinking of possibly going in March too. What dates are you guys throwing around? I think Brook is there during that time too. I think she arives late in Feb and is there for like 15 days. (lucky butt!)

We are thinking flying to see Mels grandfather in Bradenton from 3/6-3/10 then heading over to Disney 3/10 to 3/14(?) Then we would be there for Juliana's birthday 3/11. Our friends that we went with last time are going to be there from 3/5-3/13.
