Daily surprises???

Hi, when we go to WDW, I usually pack a Fanny Pack of goodies for DS-6. I'm not sure if he'll really want to wear it all the time, and with no stroller, I don't want to end up with it.

What could I use to give him little treats/goodies? I usually put PEZ, lollipops, fruit chews, chapstick etc in it. I thought of little Ziplock baggies, (1 per day) but am not sure if that's "too everytday" for a disney trip. I like to make it special in every way possible. What are your thoughts?

Gosh, I always thought a trip to WDW was special enough, but a fanny pack full of candy would make my kids happy (until they had a sugar crash) waiting in lines, etc. A little notebook and a mini pack of colored pencils kept my kids busy in restaurants when they were younger as well.

We also had mini backpacks they carried around that fit the autograph book and pen, disposable camera, Disney Dollars, and whatever else they thought they needed.

Our DS will be 7 in July, and we are still going to take his stroller. (We have a great one). He can't walk as fast as we do, so stroller is the next best thing. That way, you don't have to carry anything once you go through the security check in the park. Snacks, water, etc, go into a backpack that then goes into the bottom of the stroller. When the boy is tired of walking or we are stopping to watch a parade, he (or I) sit in the stroller.

You are on the right track for having special things for each day, but tailor them to what you are doing. If you are out after dark, whip out a cool "spinner" that you could get from almost anywhere (including the outlet shops in Orlando). Hair spray color and sprinkles, Tattoos, sunglasses, Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, granola bars, goldfish, waterbottles (maybe with some Crystal Light?) are a necessity. You don't want to carry all that do you? Not to mention rain ponchos for your whole party...

Unless your 6 year old is as tall as I am at 5 ft tall, they are not going to walk the 8-10 miles A DAY it is estimated that you will walk during a day at WDW. And then what about at 10:30pm when they have all they can have...either a tantrum or zonking out happens. They can hide in the stroller "don't look at me!" or sleep relatively comfortability while you finish dinner, Wishes, etc. Getting on and off the bus is the hardest part, but it is doable. Maybe they won't use the stroller anywhere else, but at Disney, the stroller is a savior to many.

My 5 year old walked the entire 4 days we were at WDW, no problem. Her sister did the same thing on our next trip when she was 5. They carried their own stuff too. I am not the family pack mule.

Hairspray color and sprinkles? You really bring that and lug it around the park? Where in the world do you apply it so as not to make a big hairspray cloud that bothers others?

I see I'm not the only one out there who wants to use a stroller. Good to know. I wanted to bring ours for our boy to sit in (he'll turn 6) but DH thought I was being silly. This would have been the first year to NOT bring it, but I am thinking we WILL bring it! I usually have a big ziplock wiith sunscreen, poncho's wipes, etc that I throw in the bottom of it. NO, I do not want to have to carry that!

Thanks for the great ideas of what other special goodies to include. Love the spinner idea and the haircolor.

For the person who doesn't want me to spray a cloud that would bother others,: at our local party store the other day, I saw a tube of colored hair gel. I think I will get that. My boy is always talking a bout having some color in his hair like "the big guys" at college ball games, so that would be perfect! How festive! Thanks for the great ideas and the reassurance about the stroller use!

I think bringing a stroller is a great idea. There have been may trips where at the end of the night I wished some one would push me in the stroller. We took our cousins son to the park when he was 6 with his siter 10. His father wasn't feeling well so he went back to the room. By this point the whinig about wanting to go to the pool, I'm tired etc was starting to get old (3rd day about 2:00 in the afternoon) His father thought a stroller was ridiculous. As soon as he left my husband talked his mother into renting a strioller. Like pixie dust was dropped from the sky!!!!!! All whining stopped!! We all had a great time and towards the end of the night his sister crawled in with him on his lap. (This was with the old huge platic strollers not the new ones. I don't think the new ones would have held both)

People don't understand what a nice relief it is for the little or not so little ones before they get there. Plus youo do not have to carry everythiing all day long.

As far a special things... I read on here where a mom made a special card from a character on the computer for every morning when her daughter woke up. She really seemed to enjoy her pixie dust every morning. Little toys some princess underwear (could do pirates) toy sets coloring books a new movie a new book. color wonder items are great!! Candy or a treat seem to taste better if it is wrapped or from a character He He He I am not sure who was more excited the lilltle girl or mom taking a picture with her and her treat for the day. This also make for cute souvenirs to take home. This is also a good idea for something they really wanted from a store and you told them to wait not now. Sneak back over ther and grab it fo tomorrows special treat.

Check the dollar store they have a ton of little disney things..frisbee tops playing cards, figures

I have surprises planned for my children depending on the day. While the kids are exploring the hotel w/ DH the evening we arrive, new pjs will be set out on the bed. The morning we have the princess breakfast at Epcot, my DD6 will receive a new pillowcase dress w/ Sleeping Beauty on it. The morning we head to HS, my DS10 will receive a Darth Vader shirt to wear hoping to get picked for the Jedi... I have also purchased shoe charms for their crocs, etc. Magic can happen anytime!
