Hi

First time to Universal coming up on July 15-19 arriving after cruise on the first day so 12 ish then 2 full days also staying at the Royal. DS 7 DD8 - so moving at family speed :)

Basically looking for a free cheat sheet/route/plan on where to go each day. We have Disney memorized but not universal - Where are the best places for us to find this information? Trip reports are long.

Thanks for your time!

Look at www.universalorlando.com

The park layouts and all rides in the parks are there.......decide what you want to do from that.

You don't really need a touring guide especially since you are staying at RPR, you will have EP.

EP doesn't work for both main Potter rides or the Hogwarts Express. Nor for Pteranadon Flyers.

I'd try to use the early entry at least one day into the Studios to visit Potter. I'd also go to the Pteranadon Flyers early in the day. If one or both of your kids is under the height requirement. It's a very slow loader, and no real shade in line. Otherwise, with your hotel's express pass, you can see shorter lines. Check the times for shows, as the pet show is fun, the make up show is funny. Go over the rides and shows on the website with the kids to see what they are interested in. Suggest you have a park to park ticket, as it's easy to park hop and you cannot ride the train between the parks' potter areas without it. Also, if it's really hot, I'd go back to the hotel and enjoy the pool, then return to the parks refreshed. Also, in IOA, there are the three water rides. All can get you really wet. What we do, is wear our bathing suits under quick dry clothes and flip flops and enjoy just those rides for as many times as we want. Then we go back to the hotel, shower, and return to the parks.

Have a great time!

I think the only things you really need to plan for are the 2 potter rides, Despicable Me and Pteranadon Flyers. Hit the Potter rides either at Early entry or the last hour or 2 before park closing. Hit DM at Early entry. We found that ride always had long lines and even with express it was still long. I read somewhere that said for that ride to look at what the wait time is and assume the wait time for express is half that. If you really want tour plans to follow try orlandoinformer.

I agree that the only thing you need to plan for are the HP rides and Pteranadon Flyers. We hit those first and last hours and had no issues with going anywhere else during the day. We walked right on DM with our express passes and a posted 45 minute wait, but I understand that, for some people, that has not been the case. Our longest wait with express passes was a 15 minute wait for Ripsaw Falls with a 75 minute posted wait.

Use both of those early entry days. Get to the park 15 minutes or so before posted early entry. Take a break in the afternoon to enjoy the pool.

The first early entry hour and the last hour in the park are the best. Don't miss them.
