Hi

I'm after a bit of help!! It my dad's 70th Birthday in July and we are taking him to Disneyland Paris for his birthday. He loves Disney especially Pluto. I seen reviews on Cafe Mickey and Plaza Gardens but am not sure which one to go for.

Can anyone tell me which one has the best interaction with the characters and if Pluto is at both restaurants etc. Can I get something special arranged at either place, cake etc? Is it just children that the characters spend time with or would they interact with my dad as well?

Any information would be great.

Many thanks!

For a special adult birthday I would definitely do Cafe Mickey rather than Plaza Gardens for a few reasons.
1) Plaza Gardens is rather a scrum to get in, with no organised queue and everyone just crowding the entrance, with lots of pushing up the steps.
2) Plaza Gardens character tea is just 'tea' kind of food whereas Cafe Mickey is a 'proper' restaurant meal.
3) You seem to get a much better (and longer) character interaction at Cafe Mickey, with singing and dancing in the evening if you get lucky.

You could also consider Inventions but it is expensive - have a look at the restaurant review sticky. If you order your Dad a birthday cake then in Cafe Mickey at least a few of the characters should come and join in with singing Happy Birthday.

I have a similar issue for my mums 65th in August!!!:rotfl:

It depends what food you want I think. Cafe Mickey is more of a meal. Great character interaction (although we didn't rate the food and service was sooo slow and we went when it was quieter!) but also it is depending what food you like (I was with fussy people) Look here for a view of the menu and see what you think!

Plaza Gardens is a tea party so it is mostly desserts so it is a very different experience meal wise although haven't done it so couldn;t comment on character interaction. A lot of people argue that after a buffet of mainly cakes do you want more cake when they bring out the birthday cake??

Sounds like my idea of heaven though :thumbsup2
I think we are plumping for a tea party because it sounds more fun! But if you want a nice family meal then Cafe Mickey!

Having done both 2 weeks ago, I would vote for Cafe Mickey although the character interaction at both were extremely good in my opinion. I guess the choice would be Cafe Mickey because its a restaurant with proper meal choices. Also if your luckyy to be there when they are singing and dancing it will provide a very memorable evening. Also when they bring out the birthday cake the characters will gather around the table and sing happy birthday and make a fuss of the birthday person. At the tea party, all the birthday cakes are brought out at the same time, and it is a bit of mayhem, the characers also come out at the same time, and although they were great and visited all the tables, Cafe Mickey just seems more personalised.

I would say Cafe Mickey... We ate there last week and it was fantastic! The food has a predominantly Italian feel, but there's easily something for everyone.... :goodvibes We were concerned that, as a party of two adults, we wouldn't see any characters, but they all came to our table, which made the meal wonderful! Pluto was also at Cafe Mickey when we went, but I think characters are luck of the draw.... :goodvibes

It is luck of the draw which characters are there at any meal but Pluto seems to be very popular - in fact on our last trip we thought he must be following us as he was everywhere. We have met him at Cafe Mickey breakfast, Plaza Gardens tea party, Lucky nugget, Inventions as well as in the hotel meet and greets

Another vote for Cafe Mickey. :thumbsup2

I will keep my fingers crossed (or should I say paws) that Pluto will be there for your dad. pluto:

Pluto was there when we were in Cafe Mickey too.

I've never been to the Plaza Gardens but i would really recommend Cafe Mickey. The food was lovely and the whole experience was so much fun and amazing. The character interaction was great, Pluto was there when i went. I'm planning on going back there for a 21st meal. I'm sure your dad would really enjoy it there though.

luv
