Part 1- Here’s our story and we’re sticking to it!

Okay…Here is my first attempt at a Pre-Trip report. I tried to put a trip report together for my last trip, but I never made it past the first post. My Husband had just gone to Korea and I was still adjusting to being home with the kids all by myself. So, I’m trying again, this time to relay the story of our upcoming trip that is 11 and 7 months in the making. Anyone who is a DVC member knows why it was 11 months and then again at 7 months in the making. More on that part of the story later.

Here is the cast before I delve into the actual events leading up to the planning stages;
Me :tinker: I’m a 30 yo SAHM living the Disney obsessed life fueled by the DIS boards. My Disney Obsession started when I moved to Florida at about the age of 10.

DH :darth: 27 yo Army Sergeant currently stationed in Korea. He will be coming home for about three weeks in August so we will be taking the kids to see the Mouse. He had never been to WDW before I made him go with me for a long weekend while we were dating, and then again for a short Honeymoon. He is still not too excited about Disney, but goes because we have fun while we are there.

DS :stitch2: 5 going on 6 right before the trip. This is going to be DS’s Bday trip, he wants a Mickey Mouse cake he says. He has been groomed for the life of the Disney obsessed since the age of in the womb :laughing: . His first trip he was 5 months old.

DD princess: 3 very big years old. She is our princess or should I say Daddy’s Princess. She just saw the Mouse for the first time in 2005. She’s in love now.

DD princess: She will be 10 months old at the time of our trip. My sweet baby and Daddy’s little I’m home from Iraq gift :lmao: . He came home from Iraq in January 2006 and the little woman was born in October 2006, do the math :teacher: .

Now that you know a little about us I can start our story. We started on the path of DVC ownership in the beginning of 2006. I had finally talked DH into going for it so we could at least have the promise of a vacation for years to come. I liked the points because we have to use them, meaning he has to let me go to WDW at least every other year, I do have my means and ways of bringing about what I want :stir: . After we finalized the paperwork, we went to Los Angeles for a family reunion for DH’s family and made a side trip to DLR and stayed in the Disneyland Hotel on points. It was a great trip but too short! So I started to plan a Disney World trip for the summer of 2007. Originally, we were supposed to go the Last week in May for Stars Wars Weekends :yoda: , but the Army had different plans :sad: . I’ll pick up here later. Stay tuned for the next installment of this Army Families’ Saga.

You probably already know but because your husband is active duty, you can get a lot of benefits. Ask everywhere if they have a military discount. It is good to hear that you can have this wonderful time with your family.

I think we left off with the first change to our vacation. In June ’06 I called at the 11 month window to make a DVC ressie for SSR in May. I was making plans for calling back at the 7 month window to change over to another resort, but before I could call, DH got orders for Korea. At the time I was hoping that he would not be leaving until the summer of ’07. Hopeful but I was not holding my breath. His report date was set for January ’07, nothing like a little time to plan and prep the kids for their Dad leaving for a year :confused3 , needless to say, it ruined all my plans for our summer vaca. So we sat down and talked it out and decided that we would try to reschedule for August so it would fall during his Mid-tour leave. Well, we finally had a plan so at least I have something to plan because, as you all know, we DISers are not happy if not planning a trip :yay: . In January I got to get up every morning at 6:55 to get on the line and call Member Services at opening time just so I could secure that Boardwalk view at BWV that DH wanted. I’m willing to get up at 3 in the morning just to make this trip the best he’s ever been on so he will look forward to future trips. But anyway, back on topic. So we have the BWV Boardwalk view booked for 8/5-8/15 :dance3: . Hopefully, keep your fingers crossed, DH will get his leave approved so we can actually go, well...so he can go because I’m going with the kids no matter what. I already bought all our plane tickets so I’m getting on that plane with the kids on 8/5 no matter what. I hope that doesn’t sound too mean :angel: .

Well folks, that’s it for today. Please tune in again for the next edition of this thrilling saga :rotfl: .
