.....please pray.

Having gall bladder surgery today. Just found out a few minutes ago.

Kind of frustrated with this hospital. Friday they said surgery on Monday. Monday they said surgery on Wednesday. Yesterday afternoon while visiting dad was telling the nurse that the doctor came in and said they were going to do it Tuesday.....she said, no Wednesday. Well, it's Tuesday, 4:00 PM.

She kind of acted like he didn't know what he was talking about or misunderstood the doctor. Granted my dad is 80.....but he is still one sharp cookie. He was right.

Friday after his stress test (he had been NPO since Wednesday) they brought him food.....no restrictions......no starting out with liquids for tolerance (pancreatitis and gall stones). He got sick. Asked the nurse if there were restrictions, she checked and said no. Saturday evening the nurse comes in and says, "there isn't anything on your chart or orders saying you can have food so we are putting you back NPO". Then she tells me, they may have said he could have food but someone forgot to write it down on the chart or orders so I just want to be safe. They had been bringing him food all the rest of the day Friday and Saturday. Not increasing my confidence in the staff at this hospital at all. From what I've seen they (nurses) are all to busy running around on their cell phones.

Let's hope the doctors know what they are doing.

Prayers please.

Thanks!
Cristy

Prayers being lifted up for your dad. Wishing him all the best.

It does seem like that hosp has a problem with communications, orders, etc.
I would be concerned too.

Prayers coming from Atlanta!

God bless your family and a quick turnaround for your Dad!

Put your faith where it belongs, not in man, ever. Ask Him to lead their hands always.

Amen!

I assume that they are doing his cholecystectomy laparoscopically, as it is the common method. I had that done a few years ago. My wife a few years prior. This surgery isn't that big of a deal.

Relax. He'll be fine.

Sending prayers your Dad's sugery went well and he has a speedy recovery! :grouphug:

Thanks everyone. Dad's surgery went well and he is doing good.

He is scheduled for another on Friday at noon to repair the aneurysm.

Sorry I didn't post sooner. We were hit with bad storms Tuesday evening just as he was coming out of recovery. Evidently it stirred up something that triggered a bad allergy reaction in me, eyes swelled shut, it was awful. First day I've called out sick for myself in over 3 years.....I always hate doing that.....feel so guilty......like if I'm not at death's door I should be here......all my sick/personal days get used for sick kids, kids dr. appts, kids out of school for snow, etc.

Thanks again!
