D23 Pins...WOW

So, the tink, which I ordered the first day and got it, is up as high as $110 on Ebay, and I saw a couple buy it nows in the $200 range!!! Holy Cow!! And, I saw the Movie Rewards as high as $40!! Glad I got all of them!!!

so I am kicking myself for not buying two of everything! Who would have thought? I am really tempted to sell my Tink pin considering the last one sold for $182!

I am glad I joined D23 but I am frustrated with the pins. The Tink pin sold out before I could purchase it. This morning I got an email and noticed in the newletter from D23 that there was a Jiminy Cricket pin. I tried to buy it early this afternoon (as soon as I got home from work about 4:00 pm) I got a message that said "this item is not available." So I thought ok they haven't actually started selling them yet. Maybe I was wrong and I checked again at 9:00 pm (central time) they are already sold out. And they are listed on Ebay already. I am frustrated.

AGREED!!!!! I'll admit, I'm kind of pissed right now. Part of the benefit of membership was access to exclusive merchandise. Being a collector of Jiminy Cricket (mostly pins so far), the one...ONE...ONE PIN I was interested in sold out in 24 hours?!?! And is now being offered to everyone in the world for TEN TIMES the price?!?!

Maybe this is finally the kick I needed to end this hobby that I really can't afford right now anyway.

I always thought it was only one pin (or whatever) per membership and you couldn't just order 20 pins or 20 shirts, etc... Apparantly you can based on how fast this one sold. Interesting the Tink pin lasted at least a couple weeks. Once everyone saw what they were going for on ebay, they all bought up the newest one.

Sad thing is, those prices won't stick. No way that Tink pin will be selling for 200+ dollars a year or two from now, and those that paid it will kick themselves. But all this does is make it frustrating for those of us who just want one to keep. I didn't want the Tink, but would've liked to had the JC pin.

Does D23 have any contact info that we could ask why apparantly people are buying their whole inventory? Maybe they would then make it one pin per membership number and no way it would sell that fast.

Yes, there is a contact us link on the D23 website. I already emailed them expressing my concern - that I joined on Launch Day and was not able to get either pin. The Tink was my own fault because I delayed it, thinking I would order it when I got back from a early March trip to DLR. BTW the pins were not available for sale at DLR, I asked. I was told only online.

Well I went to the site and was playing with it and decided to see if it would let me add multiples. I selected the little statue and found that it would let me have as many as I wanted in my cart. So now we know, apparantly a few people are buying many MANY pins and its not right.

Well now, thankfully, the pins are marked as TEMPORARILY Sold Out. So they will be getting more. Thank god.

I feel bad for everyone who got gouged on Ebay.

Interesting, perhaps Disney has took note of the Ebay craze and decided to correct the problem. I agree with what you said, kinda like what I said earlier that the prices on there wouldn't hold at those rates. Lots of folks are going to feel gouged.

Okay guys, I'm new to this site, but I found this page a few weeks back and remembered it because I too felt slighted by being a D23 Member and not getting my pins..... so to those of you who actually want the pin for yourself and (not to sell on ebay to other D23 members and take more from our wallet .....beleive me, I will check and call you out on it here....). Send me an email and I will give you important info. Hey times are hard and we are all in this together. Let's quit taking advantage of each other and make sure all D23 Members get our Charter Year pins.

Looks like the prices are coming down on eBay. . .Only 1 page of D23 pin listings and I see the Tink pin with a BIN price of $50.00. Hopefully it will keep going down!

Finally got a notice that my Tink and JC d23 pins have been shipped from Disney Store. com. Whoo hoo, so glad I refused to pay the ebay prices.

Dont know how many... I think there were 10 of those buttons with characters so, asuming Disney, they will milk those for all they are worth. One thing I had my eye on was the Mickey D23 that was given out to shareholders on 3/19. I was in love with it (mainly because you couldn't buy it). Well, the prices on Ebay were nuts. However, I was at the Up all Night and they were giving those pins away for the pin event. I ALMOST DIED. I didn't get the tickets but there was a waiting list for the event. I got in and they gave my wife and I each the Mickey pin. I looked like a kid at Christmas. Now, I am going to buy all the others of the set....
