I'm not sure this is the right forum, but it's the closest I can think of as I consider D23 membership a bit of a collectible. Had taken a year off from D23 membership after they went to various levels (and I had a tech issue that nobody could solve and frankly I just gave up) -

So Disney Store family D23 is $99.99 plus a $5 handling charge. I'm ok with that, even though I have no earthly reason to spend $105 on a Disney fan club, but I'm a bit DisCrazed so why not?
THEN to my surprise there is $17.99 shipping and handling charge additional. Huh? And the free shipping code doesn't work on D23 memberships. Go figure.

I chatted online with a lovely cast member to try to get the shipping waived (it is, afterall 2016 and Amazon will ship a lawn mower for $0.99 if I ask nicely) but alas no luck. And I don't think she thought my 'How much does the quarterly magazine you're shipping weigh, and isn't that what the $105 is for?' joke was funny.

Has anyone else had any luck with this? I know in the grand scheme of vanity purchases like this the extra shipping shouldn't matter, but it's the principle of the thing.

I don't have any great story of how to get the shipping waived but I can relate. I joined at the gold level a few years ago and was shocked when shipping was so high. They did send some other things as well as the magazines, but it wasn't enough to justify basically 20% of the original purchase price. I don't regret doing it since I always wanted to try it, but there certainly was a little sticker shock for what amounted to four magazines. Shipping or not, I hope you enjoy them. They are very nice

Just recently purchased a D23 Gold Membership in January. I was also surprised by the extra shipping and handling charge [along with tax], when it lists $5 as a handling charge in the single membership price of $79.99. $100 is a lot for 4 magazines and a welcome gift, but the set of Walt Disney office items looks pretty cool. Also, there did not appear to be a way to pay for the D23 membership with a Disney gift card at check out. It is kinda funny how Disney specifically excluded the D23 membership from the free shipping promotional offer.

The free shipping offer is good for most items, have to have a purchase of $75 or more, just have to enter the code 'SHIPMAGIC' [code is suppose to be good through December 31, 2016]

As an Australian, the site wanted to charge me almost $70 (US) for shipping and they couldn't do anything about it when I asked... Ended up using a MyUS address.
