The two resorts are 3 to 4 miles apart.

Vistana Villages was started in the 2000s so it's the newer facility. However, most, but not all, phases of Vistana Resort have been refurbished over the past several months. So most of the Vistana Resort villas are 'newer' than their Vistana Villages counterparts.

Vistana Resort is a huge timeshare resort that's closer to Disney than its sister resort. However not so much closer that either of the two Vistana's are particularly far from the theme parks.

We've stayed at Vistana Resort a couple of times and liked it and we're looking forward to staying at Vistana Villages in a couple of weeks. I suspect that you'd enjoy either of these resorts but there is a chance that you'd end up in a non-refurbished villa if you choose the Resort.

We have found that the Villages is a bit more laid back and quiet than the Resort. We love the new pirate pool at the Villages, too.

We have stayed in both and we definately prefer Vistana Villages. However, when we stayed at Sheraton Vistana, we were stuck in a horrible unit that had not been refurbished in a very long time. It didn't even have a balcony. Just a little landing with room for one chair. DD liked being in the loft away from us, but after that trip, we will not stay there again. We also paid a hefty price to stay there. Vistana Villages was very nice and very clean. They also have a very nice pool area.

I believe that the only phase with the loft is Courts - one of, if not the, oldest phases of Vistana Resort. I believe that Courts is scheduled to be one of the last phases of the resort to be refurbished. Some work on that phase may have started but I think that I saw a schedule that indicated that the work on Courts wouldn't be completed until sometime in 2011.

When we first stayed at this resort in 1997 it wasn't yet owned by the Starwood Vacation Club (Sheraton) and was still being built out. Newer construction and refurbishments have significantly updated the overall resort (which we thought was really nice in '97). And there are many, many more villas that are in 'nearly new' condition than there are those that have not been refurbed yet. So, in my opinion, as long as guests can avoid non-refurbished villas you'd be okay at Vistana Resort.
