Pretty sure there was a thread on this before, but the bikes must go from the walking paths. We were at RPR last week and the bikes were the worse I've seen. After leaving US one night we headed to Sal's for pizza and were pushed off the paths over ten times just on the way there. My five year old was nearly hit on a blind curve when a bike just came flying around it. One driver told me "there here to stay, get used to it." The RPR GM was not in when I went to complain so I just sent him, as well as, the regional VP an e-mail. Also included it in my guest survey. I'm hoping there are others who feel this way and will also sent in complaints. The bikes should either be removed or another path should be built for them.

Other than that the stay was great. One mistake we made was when we arrived they did not have our room ready but they did have a smoking room. We took it and boy can you ever smell the difference. Word of advice is that if your a non-smoker, never, ever take a smoking room. They did tell us at check-in that they would change the room later if we wanted, but we were only there one night so we decided to stick it out. My daughter now calls the RPR the stinky room hotel. Live and learn.

Thank you!

I complain about them every blessed survey I get as well.

Good idea sending your complaint to the regional VP as well. Think I'll do the same.

The path is NOT wide enough for both pedestrians and the rickshaws.

If they need to stay, they need their own path for the safety of pedestrians. Those walking paths are beautiful, and those bikes just pollute that lovely walk. I'm sure they serve a purpose for the tired and disabled. Just get them their own path!

When we went last year to HRH we used those bikes 2 or 3 times due to very tired feet! Most times we walked. I didn't ever have a problem walking on the path when the bikes came by. I do think (but I am not sure) that the walking path was more narrow to RPR. We stayed there in March 2006 and walked that path 2 times. Sorry that you had trouble. I would have reported my problem with it as well.

I haven't been since 2004, what bikes are these? Anyone have a picture. I plan to have an ECV with me when I go in August, how does that fare on these paths if 1 person and a bike don't fit? :confused3

The bike are rickshaws that transport people for a price back and forth along the walking paths. You'll be fine with your ECV, no need to worry about that. Just no speeding or ECV/OUI. :)

love the bikes. love riding them. and dont mind getting out of the way for them. i have never been "pushed" off the path. they ring their little bells and we just get out of the way. never thought about being inconvenienced by it. i have seen 5 year olds run over by ecv's, and strollers but never the bikes.

This is my point. The paths are not wide enough for both pedestrians and the bikes. No one should have to get out of their way at all.

I feel the same way, it's no inconvenience. It's the same as a group of people walking towards you on the path. We just move to the side.

I am more bothered by people who drive around on the ecv's who probably don't require them, and the strollers nipping at my heels.

when we were there in 2004 my daughter was literally run over by an elderly woman on an ecv & she had blood gushing out the back of her leg!!

It was ridiculous, she did not know what she was doing obviously,my daughter was in tears & we had to go get her bandaged up.I agree the bikes are sometimes annoying but i have never seen anyone run over by one!!

I think the ecv's should go before the bikes do.JMHO

Sorry this happened to your daughter but you shouldn't judge all the ECV users for one incident. Unfortunately, I can't walk for too long without my back and knee going out so an ECV is the easiest way for me to get around. I can't tell you how many times people just run in front of me without watching where they are going, luckily I'm very careful and am always going slow when I see a big crowd of people and have been fortunate enough to avoid any incidents. So please don't judge us all for not being careful because many an "able-body" person has run into me! :)

Most people who use ECVs need them. They seldom rent them on a whim as they can be rather expensive. Just because you can't see their disability doesn't mean that one doesn't exist. ECVs do not stop on a dime so be aware of your space when in front or behind one. Be courteous whether you are using an ECV or whether you are walking. Please do not let this become yet another debate on wheelchair/ECV abusers.

Phamton, this is gotton off topic and not what my post was intended. Could you please lock and close. :sad2:
