The day before we were due to leave Crowne Plaza and go to WDW for our last few nights, we decided to go and look round Celebration. By all accounts the hotel was meant to be beautiful with great theming, as was the town itself - picture perfect America in bygone years.
Well ...... we followed the roadsigns and found ourselves heading into Celebration - I was behind the wheel and first impressions were that it was really quaint. Lovely houses with white picket fences, neatly trimmed gardens blooming with colour and the sun shining
We decided to head for the hotel as our first stop and have a look around - it was well signposted - but instead of reaching the hotel we just seemed to head deeper into the town
Lets's ask someone, we thought - but couldn't actually see anyone around. Ok, we'll keep on looking. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! We headed past a school - the children were in the play area and seemed to be marching into the building. OMG, they've all got blond hair and blue eyes, DH suddenly shouted LOL
That just freaked me out. We rounded the next corner and past a man out on his porch - rocking in his chair - after getting lost again, we passed him 5 minutes later, still in the same position. Now I was seriously spooked
This town seemed to be a cross between Stepford Wives meets Stephen King !!! Smart pants DH just wound me up even more - I'll bet if we come back in 20 years that guy will not have aged a bit and will still be in his rocking chair!! LOL
Not funny - I was too busy looking out for that priest from Poltergeist to come singing round the corner
We're out of here I informed DH - don't even think about getting out the car. With that, I started heading back tres quickly - even passed a cop car with his speed gun - OMG, please don't let us go to jail here!!!!
Made it out in one piece - I would have hated even more to have been there at Halloween!!!
Well that's just my thoughts on Celebration - a liitle exaggerated I know!!
