Arlington Students & Parents Livid About Cyber Bullying
Several students at Arlington High School say they're under attack on the web and nothing is being done about it

Arlington - A group of students at Arlington High School say they are tired of being beaten up.

Not on the playground, but on the internet.

They say they're being cyber bullied by two fellow freshman who posted a video on youtube.

In it, they make fun of other girls for being fat or ugly.

"It's a really horrible feeling," said Hannah. She says she missed five days of school because she was worried about what other students would think.

Her friend Katie says she stopped eating for a while after the girls in the video made fun of her weight.

"It's very hurtful to watch your child humiliated," Said Katie's mom Katherine.

The parents and students are just as mad about the response from the school district. Administrators say they can't do anything because the video was made off school grounds.

The Washington School Director's Association is currently working to toughen up the state-wide policy on cyber bullying, but admits it's still playing catch-up.

According to the Pew Institute, nearly one-third of teenagers say they've been bullied online.

At least one parent in Arlington says she's now considering a lawsuit to keep her daughter from ever being cyber bullied again.

This is just crazy my school managed to make the news after 2 Freshman decided to post a video of themselves making fun of other Freshman from my school. I can't believe that people are that malicious and the school says they can't do anything about it. One of the girls hasn't eaten in a week and the other girls missed over a week of school because of the meaness of other kids from my school. Alot of other kids have been attacked by these 2 girls and there friends not just Freshman. I can't believe that something like this is happening at my school I mean were known for being a good school. I guess something like this can happen anywhere, it's just so sad to see something like this going on around me. And to think the administrator don't care and say they can't do anything about it. I will tell you why they say that because there too busy laying off teachers and trying to make our school look amazing to the state. We had our accredidation visit the day this made the news(Yesterday). Of course no one mentioned this yesterday but today it was all across the school. I'm sorry this just makes me mad our schools always been extremely strict on no bullying and then this happens and they don't do anything.

Your school made the news over this? I've seen this sort of thing happen a million times, and worse, but nobody ever reacted to the bullying the way you say the kids at your school are. Not eating for a week? Really?

I'm not saying that the bullies were right: they SHOULD be punished, even though they won't be. But aren't the victims kind of overreacting? I watched the video on the site you linked to. So somebody says you're fat and ugly? So what? Who are they to call you fat and ugly? From what I saw, the girls they seemed to be picking on were equally as good/bad looking as the kids in the video. Why take so much stock in what these people think? They're no better than you (not you the OP but you the figurative victim).

I don't really get why you're so shocked, either, but I guess it's because of this massive anti-bullying policy your school's got in place: you aren't used to it. And I think that therein lies the problem. When you've never been picked on, even the most basic verbal taunts can be life-shattering or something. It's strange; perhaps people need a bit of adversary, a bit of bullying in their lives in order to be able to deal with mean people later on? :confused3 I dunno. Mean people will always be out there, and in a manner of speaking I suppose it pays to be ready for them, to be immune to them.

That's a bit rambly, but I kind of think it's funny that this, of all things, made the local news.

SMH.

can i have a link to the video? half to see if it was bad enough to make news and half because i think it might make me lol......

Video's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7sHVWsg6xA

The funniest part of it all is that neither of these two girls are particularly attractive themselves. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that they're pretty ugly. Just because you go to a hair stylist doesn't mean that you have a nice face, and even if you have a nice face, that can be ruined by having an ugly heart, which both of these girls pretty clearly have.

I'd also recommend that they head back to elementary school English classes. "The Liers"? Seriously?

As a side note, anybody find that they look pretty old for Freshmen? They look like Juniors at least.

Bullying is a serious issue and the school should definitely step in when something like this happens.

This video will never go away. It will follow them a lot longer than they're expecting it to. I'm in college and when my professors place students in internships (that we need to graduate) our field placements will google our names and look for crap like this. They look for the drunk pictures all over your facebook. They background check you. They look for everything that has pretty much ever had your name on it. And many many times students cannot get hired because of these things. This is going to come back to bite them in a big way. But I hope it teaches them (and their fellow classmates) to never put anything on the internet that they wouldn't want EVERYONE to see.

And I know my mom would have beaten me if she knew that I was sitting around making videos and putting them on the internet making fun of people like this. Those girls need a serious wakeup call.

Bullying is very serious.

And the fact they spelled "liars" wrong makes me want to scream.

I think your school should be doing something about that... I know that at my school, anything found on the internet and confirmed as "cyber bullying" can get you in a heap of trouble, even if it was off campus. The schools in my district, luckily, are very serious about bullying.

I have never been seriously bullied but my heart goes out to the girls that have been bullied. The girls in the video are just insecure about themselves so much that they need to make these negative (and for the fact NOT TRUE) comments. Our bullying policy at my school is if it happens outside of school and comes into the school they can get suspended. N tolerance bullying policy is the way it should be in ALL schools.

Omfg those girls are awful! I wathched the YouTube video

1) there not very pretty so they have no rightto say that other girls are ugly
2) they seem like such airheads
3) I wanted to slap them both numerous times throughout the video
4) they obviously think there soooo cool but really you can tell they have nolidr if they spend there free time making funof people through YouTube
5) did u see the video description?! " we like it long and hard almost as much as we like picking on people" they act like there sluts and have sex and stuff. They've probaby never kissed a guy!

there may be a right to free speach, but this is slander
