Cutting a day off our trip because of MDE

Wish I had found this forum prior to booking. I was frantically trying to find a res at BLT for 08/26-09/01 and was having no luck. On a whim I entered our departure date for 09/02 and it suddenly became available so I grabbed it instantly, while simultaneously chatting online with a "CM" who said any changes made within 45 days would incur no penalties.

Flights are booked for 09/01 to come home and I plan on modifying my res tomorrow, but I had a few questions/concerns.

Will this screw up anything I have booked on MDE like my ADRs?

I paid for my trip in full, anyone know when I would be reimbursed for the extra night?

Is tinkering with my res prior to my 60 day check in window less likely to have my special request met?

I could be wrong, but I think removing a night could change your per night rate. That isnt considered a penalty - just a rate change. Might want to check the rate change before you decide to change it.

So, just to clarify, you want to remove a day from your trip not due in any way to MDE, but because there are no seven night packages available at your desired resort?

Changes made more than - not within - 45 days are penalty-free.

You paid for your trip in full including the second? Refunds can take up to two credit card billing cycles to show up on one's account. Generally it only takes a few days.

With the very strong reminder that requests are merely requests and never guaranteed, no, making even multiple changes to a reservation 70 days before arrival will have absolutely no effect on any person or program assigning rooms a few days before the guest checks in.

What special request are you trying to have met? Are you talking about cancelling the last night of your trip? Just call Disney and cancel the last night, you're outside the 45-day window, so there wouldn't be a penalty.

As long as you didn't make an ADR on 2 September then you are OK. You can within 180 days always make an ADR if available. Even without tickets. Whether you show up or not is on you and it can cost you.
I am a little confused though because the Header says you are cutting a day off of your trip because of MDE but your write has you going for the days you already planned. Did you mean that MDE made you add a day?

Just a specific room request, staying at BLT with a a Lake View, but trying to get a low, even numbered room so we can also see the MK

Yeah I realize I worded it weird now. Just meant that the website wouldn't allow me to book the 6 available nights, but forced the 7th night I never planned on using. I guess it Is actually a Disney thing rather than a tech glitch.

And I just ADDED a night to check out on 9/2 because of flights. :rotfl:

As PPs said, you can cancel without penalty since you're outside of the 45 day window.

Wanted to add, don't get your hopes up on the view. There aren't many on that side with the MK view and that's probably the most popular request. Plus you're checking in on a Wed. To increase the odds, don't do online check-in and hopefully you're arriving early and can speak to someone at check-in. They'll likely give you a room already ready or one that will be ready shortly, but if you speak to them and are willing to wait, that'll increase your odds in getting the request.

Have a great trip!

Also, regarding the refund of your money.....while they say it may take up to two billing cycles to see the refund, we have never had it take more than ten days to have the money re-deposited in our account or charged back to our credit card. We have made several modifications over our trips (at least five occasions) that we have had to do this, and this was always our experience.

You are going to LOVE BLT!

Just call them and remove the last night from your stay. You're outside the 45 days, no penalty or anything.

Can't help you with your request. Whether you change your reservation now or not will not have any effect on what room you're assigned. Requesting a specific room is not the wisest move though - a better request would be "lower floor facing Mk" but you might specify something so you don't end up on the first or second floors where it's harder to see anything. Request a specific room if you'd like, but if they cant give you that room they don't know why you requested it, so they could put you anywhere.
