I just thought this was so cute.... names have been changed to protect the innocent.....
My DN7 (we'll call her Cassie) was my flowergirl. I have several cousins, but two of them have little boys who are around that age as well (Paul (7) and Kevin (6)). Cassie and I are really close, and I have made a deal with her that we would have three dances during the night (this was to keep from having her feelings hurt when she couldn't dance every dance with me). So, the song "Amazed" by Lonestar starts and Cassie asks if we can dance. We had just started and her mom comes up. She tells Cassie that Paul has requested this song so he can dance with her. She looks at me like "I'm sorry - what do I do?". I told her it was fine and to go dance with Paul. So she runs over to Paul, asks him to dance and they head out to the dance floor hand in hand. So cute!! The next song starts, and she comes back for her dance. We had just started, and her mom comes over. She says "Cassie, I'm so sorry. It wasn't Paul who requested the song, it was Kevin, and now he's behind the bar crying because his feelings are hurt." Cassie never missed a beat.... she said "I'm sorry Heidi" and headed straight for the bar..... took Kevin's hand and lead him out on the floor. The smile on his face was priceless as he tried to wipe away the tears with his free hand. Too cute. Here this poor little guy (6 years old) went up to the DJ (the DJ told me this) all by himself to request "Amazed" so he could dance with the "pretty little girl in the white dress" and when the song came on the "pretty little girl" walked up to his cousin and asked him to dance instead. He doesn't know it was a mistake..... his heart is crushed because he thinks she picked Paul. Ahhhh.... first loves
