Was wondering if anyone has ever made use of a customized touring plan for the Disney parks available from TOURINGPLANS.COM? We will be there over the Christmas Hoildays and thought given the large crowds, that such a plan might be useful. In previous trips, we have relied on the plans outlined inthe Unofficial Guide and found them to be very helpful. Was curious to see if people thought the customized plans added any real benefit over and above those inthe Unofficial Guide. Thanks for your help.

Hi sfberenson,

I think there are enough DISers that have used our customized touring plans to give you a decent idea of how the service is. I'll just add a couple of points:

If you're willing to follow the directions in the Unofficial Guide, and you don't have any meals scheduled at odd times, then the plans in the book are the very best available. I'd go with those.

If, however, you cannot be at the parks when they open (which may be 7 a.m. on an EMH day during Christmas), or you've got, say, breakfast scheduled at 9:30 a.m., but still want to make the most of the day, then perhaps a customized touring plan is your best option.

Hope this helps. Feel free to drop me a line if you have specific questions. Thanks for your interest in the touring plans.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

My sister mentioned that when she was at Disney World over the summer, she was approached by a cast member at city hall who offered to make her a customized touring plan. The cast member said they were testing out a new idea.

She said it only took a few seconds and it looked like a little checklist of attractions that would be good for her family. On the back it also had tips about where to see the parade and where to eat. It sounded pretty cool. Has anyone else gotten one?

Hey Magicmaker, can you ask your sister whether the Castmember ran her choices through a computer? That would indicate that Disney was trying to minimize her waits in line.

Thanks!

Len

I ordered several customized touring plans from the Unofficial Guide a while ago. The customer service I received was nothing short of spectacular. The touring plans were excellent, and they took my existing plans (like dining reservations) and attraction preferences into account. They helped me figure out when to use Fastpass, and even offered to help me at the last minute if I encountered huge lines once I got there. I can say in all honesty that it has been a long time since I have received customer service as responsive and helpful as this was. :)

I called my sister and asked her some more about the touring plan she got. She said the cast member asked her some questions about her family like ages, and if they had any fears, their favorite characters and where they wanted to eat. Then he went behind the counter of City Hall to a computer and typed in the information. He came back with a printed out plan. She said it looked just like the information times guides they have, except it had her name printed at the top and a checklist of attractions. The cast member said they were in an order made the most sense for touring the park

Since it was a test, he also told her to come to city hall at the end of the day and fill out a survey. She did and they gave her a free pair of Mickey Mouse ears! Sounds good to me!

Is she the only person who's ever gotten this?
