My DH and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary @ WDW and I wanted to surprise him with a custom cake for our anniversary.

I've read so many posts about the cakes - that I just can't remember :upsidedow....so please forgive me if somone has already stated this before but...

Has anyone ever had one delivered to Tusker House? How was it? Do you know which bakery it came from?

We will be there for the character breakfast early on in our trip, so I was thinking this could be my best choice for where to have it....but I want to make sure it will be worth it.

Thanks so much for your help!! :flower3:

I surprised DH with a custom cake for our first anniversary at WDW. It was a replica of our cake topper and I had them add some hidden mickeys in the design. It was fantastic. :)

Though I didn't have it done for Tusker House, so I have no advice there.

You could try calling the cake hotline (407) 827-2253, they're extremely helpful. It'll be automated at first, so if there's a bakery available to make it for delivery to Tusker House, you should be able to choose it. You'll need your ADR number handy, but you don't have to pay until you get your bill in the restaurant. If you want something really unique, they may be able to do it or at least someone there can give you the necessary contacts. There's also a Cake Chatter thread you can search for which should give you a lot of info.

Good luck! Happy anniversary!

Just wondering a bit about the logistics.

1. Cake for breakfast?

2. What will you do with the rest of the cake after your meal? I'm assuming you will be touring the park. Maybe you could ask if they can store the remains of the cake until you are ready to leave for the day, but I'm not sure if they would have the room/facilities to do this?

3. Will you have any ADRs for dinner at a resort instead of a park?

I was thinking the same thing. You may consider having it delivered to your room in the evening as a surprise or wherever your having dinner. I've never ordered a cake as I think they would be to large and there are only two of us.

I wanted to celebrate with a cake when everyone is together (my parents are only there for the first half of our trip). Most of our ADRs are character breakfasts (our only non-breakfast is 50s Cafe for lunch).

So here was my train of thought...

-Even though it's breakfast, there's always time for dessert. ;)

-I thought about what I would do with leftovers, and decided that I wouldn't want to keep it. So I'd offer the staff to take it back to the kitchen to share among the staff or offer pieces to other guests around us.

-I thought about having it delivered to our room, but not sure if/when we would even be there to enjoy it. I'd hate to have it sit out in the heat. (And we won't have a fridge, so I'd feel guilty throwing out leftovers.)

I also considered having one of those Disney gift baskets delivered to our room for him - with the fruit, drinks, Disney snacks, etc. Perhaps that would be a better option instead of the cake.

Will your family be together during your park day at AK? If so, you could have a custom zebra striped cake (with amarula liquor mousse filling) ready for pick up at the Mara at the AKL. You could leave AK by bus or car for the 5 minute trip over to the lodge. Have your lunch at the Mara food court and pick your cake up then. They have done this for us. Our plan was to skip lunch entirely and just order each of us a cup of coffee and have room for a much larger slice of that amazing cake. We ended up canceling our order for the Mara and moved it over to Sanaa. We ended up having it for dessert after our dinner there. It was really nice to know that we were able to do it at the Mara if we had wanted to do so.

I can understand your comment about there always being time for dessert!!:thumbsup2 Cake/danish/cinnamon rolls: They're all sweet right?

The staff will not eat food sent back to the kitchen. I doubt that they would serve your food to other diners. Any leftovers would be thrown out.

I think your other idea of a gift basket is brilliant. Something that can be enjoyed at your leisure over several days and no guilt over wasting food. Sounds like a plan!:woohoo:
