I have been reading about people joing curves. It made me curious so I went to their website. I NEVER knew that I had a couple near me. I don't see anywhere on their site about the price. I am wondering about how much it costs to join? Do you reccommend it? Or am I better off just joining the Y?

Thank You:D

I've been going to Curves since last April and I really like it. I think I personally prefer it to something like the Y or a gym because they tell you exactly what to do the entire time you're there (I need *lots* of guidance, LOL!!). You just do the circuit 2 times (plus 4 stations) and you're done, in and out in 1/2 hour. :teeth:

My sign-up fee was $59. It was normally double that but they gave a discount 'cuz we signed up the day we took a tour. I think all Curves do that, but sign-up fees vary.

I pay $29/month through direct-debit of my checking account. I signed a year contract to get that rate. You can go month-to-month, but it's $10 more per month. Again, this can vary by studio.

I've definitely seen results from the workout -- lots of inches lost! And since I've been back on WW, the pounds are dropping off again, too. :)

I'm sure you'll get lots of other replies -- Curves seems to be a pretty popular option these days!

I did a month trial at my CURVES last Oct and loved it! In fact, I loved it so much I pulled a groin muscle! I plan on going back, probably in April. Am planning on this 1st quarter of '04 being just walking and some of my tapes, being a little gentler on this old, creaky body to start (also some financial considerations). My sister (or a friend, can't remember) did suggest that I could go and just do the upper body part of the circuit for now and I may do that as soon as my 1st quarter annual expenses are taken care of. I know I really enjoyed it....just be sure to do EXTRA warm up before you jump into the circuit.

Thanks for the replies so far. I have not really lost anything since Thanksgiving. I have been jumping between losing and gaining a few lbs. I would love to walk but its way to COLD. (especially since I have two little ones) I am thinking that some sort of excercise will boost me up. (maybe)

The best thing about Curves is being done in 1/2 hour and never having to wait. I had joined a national chain health spa and it was always so crowded! I had to wait for machines, the classes were always too crowded..so I always ended up just walking the track. It certainly wasn't worth the money I paid. The one thing I don't like are the restricted hours at Curves. I have a very weird work schedule and some days I just can't get there during the times they are open.

I've been doing Curves since March '03, and I still absolutely love it! Ours was a new club that opened in March, and I am the #3 loser for the year :teeth: Definitely check out the registration fees, and ask them if they have any deals coming up ( I think the half off is somewhat standard -- makes you feel like you're getting a deal  ), and the hours it is open. I live in Ontario and ours is open M-F 7am - 8pm and Sat 8am - noon. We don't shut down during the slow hours but I've read here that some do.

The best part is it's all women, and it's basic exercise ... anyone can do it. And the stronger you get, the harder you work on the machines.

Go take a tour and give it a try ... and let us know what you decide.

I joined Curves about two months ago and love it!!! I go three times a week and it's $29 per month (used a debit card). The initial sign-up cost was $74.50. Definitely ask if there any specials going on. Also, I was able to work out for a week for free before signing up.

I am 52 years old and have hated exercise all of my adult life. This works for me. It's fast, not intimidating at all and not boring(which is a major factor). I've lost inches and feel better.

I go twice a week after work and Saturday morning. I highly recommend it!

Good luck!
