was wondering if its plausable to sell our current home resort
and almost immediately turn around and buy at the Beach Club. Our family has finally, after this current trip we are on, determined that there is no other resort we want to stay at other than the Beach Club and we are finding it very hard lately to get a room at 7 months.
Anyone have any experiences with this, ever done it cause you just had to have your resort?
Something tells me that this will be a hard feat to do but who knows...
We are going to inquire with the timeshare store soon to see what the options are...I know its a bad economy but maybe we can get this sold...
so we can buy at the beach club...

I've not done it, but it's certainly plausible. Are you tied to any particular UY for your purchase? And do you have to have it done by a certain date to allow for vacation plans? I think timing and patience will be the biggest difficulties to overcome.

I don't understand why you think that it will be a difficult thing to do? The process can take a few months. Expect to lose money and spend several months looking for the right BCV contract with your desired points and UY.

Remember, there are several Brokers to choose from and you can search them all for your new contract.

It will not be that difficult (although whether it's a small or large contract size will vary the ease) but it will cost you more. **** is selling for $10 to $20+ less per point than BCV. Plus you will pay a commission of 10% on the sale in addition to a few other fees.

We sold our 2 SSR contracts a few months ago & was very painless through the Timeshare Store. We didn't get the same money per point we paid, but then again we got a lot of use out of it since SSR opened & we actually did pretty good so we didn't feel as if we took a big loss.

Now we are in the process of buying 1 BLT contract, because we felt the same way after we stayed there for NYE week. We never could get NYE & we had to move around a lot, but we LOVED BLT & decided that we'd like to do many more holiday weeks there in the future. We will own less points, but we are happy with that decision....for now. ;)

I am thinking of doing almost the same thing. I spoke at length with another broker - grandma and son, since I can't spell out the company's name. She had zero *** contracts for sale at the time - she had sold all she had. She didn't think I would have any trouble selling and buying the other resort. We are still thinking it over - we would take a loss, and then the new points would carry all of the new restrictions, whereas our current ones do not.

Good luck! I think you'll have an easier time buying BCV if you're not locked into a particular UY.

But,have you tried to get into BCV exactly at 7 months? For a studio, I've had success doing that at various times of the year, and I couldn't get a dedicated 2 bedroom with 2 queens, but I did get a 2 bedroom for this past June at less than 7 months.

I own at BCV,but not enough points to get everyone I want "in" at 11 months. I've even had success gettin 2 studios for a few nights over the 4th of July. These were gotten right at 7 months. I changed over from BWV.

Last week I was able to book a studio at BCV for 7 nights (late April to early May) and I do not own at BCV. So depending on the time of year it is doable but nothing beats that 11 month window.

May I make a suggestion? As you are planning to sell one DVC resort and purchase another, have you considered buying smaller contracts instead of one large?
It's easier to will them to more than one person that way, and if you ever need to sell in the future, the smaller contracts seem to sell quicker. Our first contract was one lump sum of points, but we bought all of our add ons in 25 to 50 point increments, even if we were adding on 100 points (or more) at one time.

Best of luck with your decision.

On another note, since we've never stayed in VWL, is it difficult to get into that at 7 months? I'd like to try it...

Being the smallest of the DVC resorts, it probably is a little more difficult. But as with all of the resorts, everything is dependent on the time of year that you're traveling, and the type of room you're looking for.

I'll let you know once I secure my VWL purchase :)

I always say, buy where you want to stay. If BCV is what you want, then sell and get that BCV contract.

With Disney, I usually get what I want at the 11 month window. If I am booking less then 7 months, I am happy to get a room that is available. We have smaller contracts at BWV, BLT and AKV so we can get the "hard" reservations at 11 months.

Just a reminder that general questions about selling are allowed but specific resort info should not be included.

I had to edit a few threads to remove specifics as to not appear as a "for sale".

Thanks all!

I'd also suggest an add on rather than selling. On 200 points one is likely going to lose in the general vicinity of $2000-2500 to swap those points.

Not trying to be cheeky, but you might want to edit the thread title as well!!

I hope this answer does not break the forum rules but yes we are planning on selling the entire contract of 200 so that we can purchase a different contract at the BCV for the use year we want. I know that it will prob take a perfect storm to get the exact # of points with the desired use year but if we sell before that comes around then we are good with not owning at all until the right contract comes along.
we feel that buying smaller contracts is too much of a hassle cause you are dealing with different useyears and what not. We would rather have 300 points
with the same use year

Its just that this trip we are on now solidifies our desire to have bcv at 11 months..I think since we bought at ................like 7 years ago we have
stayed there like twice.....
We love it here so much that we want to do this
we thought about keeping our ....... and just buying another contract for BCV
but then 200 points of our total ownership will have to be booked still at 7 months....so its kinda worthless to us if we know that every trip we want we want at the beach club....

Do you want every trip to be at BCV? With banking and borrowing, you could still have the 11 month window for BCV part of the time by doing an 100 pt add on since it sounds like you want to go from 200 to 300 points anyway. Or maybe add on 120-150 instead instead of 100 looking at the money saved by not selling as a discount in the range of $2000.

The DIS allows general questions about the process of selling and buying DVC contracts, but does not allow "For Sale" posts or any that could be construed as one.

Since the OP has some answers, I am closing this thread. Too much editing is required to keep it within board guidelines.
