We currently have Gold APs. We have two trips planned, May and November. But what if we throw in a trip for Spring Break 2017. When can I upgrade? Do I have to upgrade before the Black Out dates, so during our November trip? Or can I wait until Spring Break 2017 and upgrade then?

If you wait to upgrade until spring break you will not be able to make any advance fast passes for the blacked out days. If that doesn't matter to you then I don't see a reason you couldn't wait.

You can upgrade at any time but the price for the upgrade will be the same as well- they do not do a discounted upgrade if you are end the end of your use year or anything.

We have a similar dilemma in that we currently have seasonal passes and have a full week trip planned during a blackout period. In addition I have both new seasonable pass and renewals sitting in the safe deposit box. FL resident tickets are also blacked out for that time. Our choices are to get a 5-7 day ticket for UT, get a 5-7 day DVC with Park Hopper/WP&M, renew our seasonal passes when the expire in the summer then upgrade for the black out period or to get a new "seasonal Pass" then upgrade for the blackout period. Fortunately for you the choice is straight forward, for us not so much. We'll likely get the 7 day tickets from UT and forego the park hopping OR do a combination with at least one Platinum pass to get the photo's.

Wouldn't getting the 7 day from UT plus keeping your seasonal pass be more expensive than a platinum? Or are you thinking not renewing the seasonal quite yet.

Maybe you missed my thought on the combination. It would be one person getting the pass and the others getting the tickets from UT, not both for the same person.

Do you know the Blackout dates for 2017 already??? I know some people's spring break is different than others, curious....

I'm not sure about the dates, but our spring break always is around Easter, so I assume it would fall During the black out period.

A side question- can I upgrade over the phone or does it have to be in person?
