We are currently booked for a standard room at CSR for 04/26 - 05/01/21. It's just my husband and I in our 50's taking a romatic getaway before our first grandchild. We have never stayed here but have been to WDW several times. I am worried about some of the bad reviews I am reading concerning transporation and maintenance issues. We could switch to CBR for about the same $ or rent DVC points and stay at SSR preferred room for about $500 more but we would lose all of our dining reservations that have been made with our current package. Advice please

No advice, but those are our exact travel dates and also our first stay at CSR. I’ve noticed some poor reviews also and was nervous. We moved our room into the tower, hoping for a positive experience! Enjoy your trip!

Oh wow maybe we will see you there! Have a great trip!!

We book at CSR often and also love it. We haven't stayed standard since just prior to the pandemic, and have stayed at GDT twice since reopening. (We have a tentative few days booked in June to stay in a standard room.)

No maintenance issues at all, but if rope drop is important to you, transportation is iffy in our experience. We've had a couple of great experiences, but a couple of poor ones at the Tower bus stop in November for morning transportation.

We stayed at CSR in January and rented a car to drive to DHS and AK, but did walk over to Casitas for our MK day since we knew that was the first stop and we didn't want to drive. That worked out OK since the bus was empty when it arrived. There were a lot of people at the next stop (Cabanas, which had just opened, Ranchos wasn't open yet but I understand it is now) and couldn't accommodate everyone.

If they've added more buses to accommodate all sections being open now, should be OK. Do you follow the main CSR thread? https://www.disboards.com/threads/disneys-coronado-springs-resort-information-questions.3270962/

Leigh L.......that's what I was afraid of with the transportation. I really don't want to get a rental car or have to take an Uber all week. Thanks for letting me know what you experienced! And yes I have been on the CSR board watching it like a hawk for other feedback lol

This was January, so a lot could have changed. I'd go by what people are saying now :).

Other than rope drop, in our experience transportation was OK. On a couple of days, DD was in school, so I did remote work, and we met up with the rest of the family later. Always had an easy time catching a bus to the parks with little wait. Getting back to the resort within an hour of closing or after park closing wasn't really a big issue either. Just rope drop.

CSR is my favorite moderate resort, I have not been back since Covid but it's a really pretty resort. As far as transportation, I think you will find all the resorts right now are having some "issues" with it. The buses have always been sort of hit and miss no matter where you were staying. I wouldn't let it bother you, just make sure to plan in some extra time and roll with it. I have been at some resorts and waited almost a hour for a bus and been at the same resort and had them rolling in every 10 min. I've stayed at just about every resort on property including the fort in our RV and the buses are the buses are the buses at all of them. I've also stayed at monorail resorts and have had long waits for those and long waits for the boats.

Once you’ve made those ADRs, you won’t lose them if you change resorts. If you want to be cautious, make the new reservation and link it to MDE before you cancel the old one. Having the resort reservation just opens the 60+10 booking window for ADRs, but once made the ADRs aren’t linked to the resort reservation.

So if we buy points from a DVC owner and have that reservation number linked to MDE then the dining reservations are transferable to the new reservation?!

The only complaints on Trip Advisor seem to be related to lack of food, crowded pools and the buses. Which you are going to get those same complaints at most of the resorts right now.

Hopefully Disney starts addressing this soon with more staffing, more dining opening and more buses if more staffing.

Pools - can't really change much until CDC changes social distancing for outdoors.

As people far wiser than me on these boards have said, you can't really judge a resort by its transportation. All resorts have had issues with transportation and I think you can find frustrations just about anywhere. But as a resort, CSR I think is one of the top moderates. It's the most deluxe feeling, it has truly beautiful rooms, and it doesn't feel as hectic as some of the other resorts. It really feels like you can relax there.

We last stayed there over Thanksgiving week and had a good stay. My only complaint was the lack of food options, but it's my understanding that El Mercado has since opened up and so that's better.

I think the bottom line is that you're going to find bad reviews for every single hotel on property. Don't psych yourself out based on them. I personally would not be worried about staying at CSR at all -- we're staying there again in May.

Yep! Once you make the ADRs, they stay unless you cancel them. They aren’t actually linked to the resort reservation.

I wanted to quote myself - I see these as real issues and understand the complaints.

I was one of the people who didn't have a great stay at CSR and shared it both on here and TA. I got mixed responses when I did. Some said that customer service gave an appropriate response to my issues and some said they didn't. The response I got from CS was somewhat snarky (IMO) when they told me to pretty much stay at a different resort.

I don't have a vendetta against the resort at this point, I just think with the shortage of staffing that they directed most of their resources to GDT. Which in turn is causing the rest of the resort to become in need of some TLC. I also have stayed their twice and the first time the place was amazing, but this was prior to GDT even opening (and the pandemic).

Enjoy SSR, I think we are going to rent points next time ourselves.
