What is Disney currently offering for tours? I know some people who want to tour on their upcoming trip.

Last year in June and December it was $100 gift card for Deluxe Class stays, $25 (up to 2 guests) for moderate stays and a $15 gift card and a fast pass (only one gift card per tour) for value stays.

Last month we got the $100 gift card. We were staying at the Poly at the time.

I never thought the incentives were tied to where you were currently staying. if they were, why wouldn't people just tell them Poly even if they weren't?

Hmm never thought of that one. Maybe they check with the hotel and make sure. We had no idea they were tied to where you were staying. They drove us to the Poly after our tour but you're right that anyone could say they were staying deluxe even if they weren't. I sometimes forget that not everyone is honest.

We went in April and received a $100 gift card plus fast passes. We were staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort at the time. The CM at the DVC desk at Animal Kingdom asked where we were staying and then said, "Oh, we're running a special for guests staying at moderate resorts who are touring." Of course, he already knew where we were staying when he made the offer... so maybe they just want you to feel urgency and go on this particular trip and tailor the offer to fit your circumstances!

They pick you up from your hotel. And they do indeed check. Disney is smarter than the average guest. ;)

LOL, well, they didn't pick us up from the hotel and they didn't check our room keys. They took us straight from the Animal Kingdom Park. BUT, once they had our ID's for the purchase, of course they could easily check. I also have no idea how they would have handled it if we had not purchased and it was time to hand over the goodies at the end of the sales pitch!

You are right, they do not do that. But when they ask where you are staying, they enter that into the PC. And then, when you walk away with your little slip of paper, they verify the information you provide them. My tour guide is also a friend and she has shared with me how people try to scam...they do the tour for shopping money. That is another reason why your "gift" for doing the tour is not processed until your tour is almost over.

What surprised me when we stopped at the DVC booth at AK was that when they pulled our names up in the system, we were already tied to some DVCer as a "referral"... which would have been fine if we actually KNEW the person who was tied to our name! We had never even heard of him. So, we insisted that the referral credit for our BLT purchase go to the family that had rented us points for many years. I followed up later to verify that Disney did actually give the referral credit of $200 to the correct family (and they did).

Interesting-we had no idea there was any difference based on where you were staying. Strangely enough we had a Pop ressie for 15 days but had rented 3 nights at AKL to try out a DVC stay and see if it was for us (IT SOOO WAS;)). They picked us up and dropped us off at AKL-but all we got was $15 gift certs. It was that or the fast passes. That's kinda stinky :confused3

Well, when we were at the booth at AK, I was all for going, and hubby was reluctant about "wasting our last day" at the DVC office. That's when the guide jumped in asking where we were staying and telling us about the incentives. I really think they tailor their offer to the party in front of them. Dangle the equivalent of a free dinner and fast passes on a hot day in front of my hubby, and you're likely to get a much more willing participant!

Well when they found out we were staying at Pop for 15 days but decided to try out AKL for 3 days they probably knew that we were putty in their hands ;)

We rented points to see what is was all about. I remember walking into the 1 bdrm Savannah view room and going "Ohhhhhhhh....":woohoo:

I just got an email from DVC saying that if I scheduled a 10 minute "Phone Tour" by Aug 7th, they would send me a $25. Disney gift card.

We are going to Disney in the beginning of Sept for a week and staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

Anyone else know what a Phone Tour is? They said it would last 10 minutes or so.

Thanks in advance! :confused3

Wow. Things have changed a lot since I worked for DVC. I was an ASA (Advanced Sales Associate) with DVC from 1999 to 2001 and back then the only thing we could offer was lunch certificates on the Boardwalk if they toured between 10:30 and 2:30.

I feel cheated :confused3 We toured and purchased last year while staying at the all star music family suites and all we got were fast passes that we thought were really cool....did not know about the gift cards....we have friends traveling with us in November on our points and they are really interested in touring and considering DVC, this is good to know for them :)

Make sure they give your name as a referral. We met a man waiting for the bus outside DHS and talked to him about DVC. He gave us his name and when we bought the next day we listed him as a referral and he got a $250 Disney Gift Card. I bet he was really surprised.

Are you sure he got that gift card? Many DVC members reside in states or countries that do not allow the member to receive any referral fee including a gift card. But Disney does send them a thank you card. :)

Actually no I'm not sure. I'm assuming he did. He lives in Florida so would that be allowed?

Yes, Florida is one of the states that does allow the referral reward. My sister lives in Oregon and she can't get the reward. I've asked her to give my name to anyone she talks to who is interested in DVC, and told her I would split the reward with her if the person buys into DVC.

How long is this tour and when is it? Does it run pretty much any time, or are there specific times? I'd be interested, but want to know how to plan it into a day.
