Current thoughts on Donald's Breakfastosaurus?

I've been hearing so many mixed reviews about this character meal. Some people say it has improved recently (in terms of not feeling so rushed). Has anyone eaten here recently? I don't want to waste my money, but since there are few dining options in AK, this seems like something my kids may enjoy.
Thanks! :earsgirl:

We have been the last three years, and enjoy it more than any other character meal. The food is very good--we think it's much better than CM--and the character interaction is excellent. Also, the CM's there are attentive and funny. We'll be there again a week from Monday!

Well, we just went yesterday, as Duck is DS's FAVORITE character.

Regardless of him being DS's favorite character, we will not be going again - even though we had "good placement", in one of the smaller more private rooms, there just wasn't the good "quality time" with the characters that I had hoped for. The server told us "no rush", but I felt like they were giving us a boot up the hind-end within 30 minutes. We were in and out within 40 minutes. (I know that most people want to be in and out quickly when doing the parks, but that was not our objective.)

Before I had booked, I asked for responses and most of those that went to Breakfastasaurus gave it thumbs up. I guess it's all what you're used to and what your expectations are. We had just gone to O'Hana's for breakfast the morning before and it was MUCH better (no duck though). The characters were much more interactive and each of them (Goofy, Mickey, Chip & Dale) visited our table 3-4 times.

Sorry you had a bad experience.. we've been to all the character meals, including Ohana, so its not really a matter of "what you're used to and what your expectations are" when I say we like Donalds. We have an excellent basis of comparison.

You probably went on a bad day or had a server who was having a bad day. It happens. To make a sweeping judgement assuming that someone else's expectations are somehow lower than yours, and they are used to less, is insulting.

We just went in January and, comparing it to CM, CRT, and CP breakfasts, it was definitely our least favorite. It's not that it was "bad", it's just that the food selection wasn't quite as good as at the others (by good I mean freshly prepared, the food on our buffet was kind of "old" and lukewarm) and the characters only came around once for a very brief visit, although I did notice the characters spending more time with a large family group on the other side of the room from us (which is maybe why our time was cut short!). Our wait staff was great and we didn't experience being rushed out as others have. It's probably worth doing if you really want to see Donald.

We go every year and enjoy it. We usually go at non-crowded times and have never been rushed. I usually walk around after eating and look at all the dinosaur decorations. Donald is a favorite with us also.

We actually like the food and looked forward to going again. We were there Wednesday 4/6. Our server was funny when she was around, playing little tricks on us. But she wasn't overly attentive, nor did she seem to give a hoot that after 45 minutes we'd seen not a single character. We were done eating and had paid the bill before they even entered the room. It was torturous too because they took forever to get to our table, then each spent 45 seconds TOPS with us and we have four kids. They didn't make any special effort to help me get nice photos. I only wanted one with all the kids in it. I didn't take a bunch or separates either. Dh said he'd still give it another try. He believes we were seated at the tail end of the characters' rotation through our room so he chalks it up to unlucky timing. I'm not sure I will make it such a priority next time though. It is the only guaranteed place you will see the duck though, and he's a fave of our dd5.

Contrary to others, we DID like the food there.

This is one of our favorite character meals! We have done it many times, the last being right before Easter! We felt like it was better organized on this last trip than it has been in the past. The lines at the hot buffet were not nearly as long! :) We have a ds, so no princess meals for us! My ds loves this one and Chef Mickeys best! We did both last trip and definetly felt the food was muuuch better at Donald's! We also were in the first groups to be seated that morning (I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not!) We will definetly be going back! :cool1:

We've done this on every trip. We always schedule it where we have a late seating for an AK EMH morning. That way we are in the park for 2 - 2½ hours then we take a break for brunch. Being there late we've always had good character interaction. The food has always been fresh and hot too. We do find that in general, at the character meals if your kids aren't asking for autographs for their books, they actually seem to spend more time. Rather than signing and then one quick photo they play for a bit and then photos. Since we've been multiple times we now suggest the kids skip the autograph books at the meals and just have fun with the characters. My son in law also thinks they spend more time if you are videotaping than they do if you are just taking photos.

We loved this breakfast and we plan to do again on our next trip. The food was very, very good and all the characters were great with my kids. 40 mins would have been plenty for us though. We would be dying to get to the park! We didn't feel rushed at all, but maybe that was just our perception. We got great photos with the kids, Donald even came back and took extras with our 5 yr old son!

We've been 5 times and have had a great experience every time. Can't wait to go back and see Donald and the gang again!

Thanks so much everyone....I think it's worth a shot! We are also doing EMH there and have then scheduled a late breakfast at 10:10 am. I hope this works out well! :goodvibes

Lucky's Mom, when are you going? We are going there also for the first time because some family members wanted to try something different. We are going May 28. Let us know how you liked it.

We'll be trying this for the first time in June as well. I just want the dino eggs.... :earboy2:

Our first Character meal ever will be at Breakfastsaurus. We are really looking forward to it!! Our ps is for June 21. Personally, if I felt rushed at ANY restaurant I would say something to the server or the host. You are paying for the meal, if you want to eat slowly and wait for characters than so be it.

Oh, hey! We'll be at Donald's Breakfastosaurus on May 28th too! This is our first trip but this will be our second character meal. We're also doing a lunch at Crystal Palace.

It's funny because if you read enough reviews you'll find good and bad reviews on EVERY restaurant. We're looking forward to breakfast with Donald and the gang!!

This is *very* true!!! We have a Donald's scheduled too. I have no idea if it will be good or bad! I've read both reviews but I've read both good & bad at just about every restaraunt and since it's our first time, we have no basis for comparison!

I'm not going until mid-July so won't have a report until then.

We've had the worst experience in the world at Crystal Palace, and yet there are rave reviews all the time about it. So take ANY bad review with a grain of salt unless there are more bad than good.

Our experience at Donald's was fantastic! This was one of DS's favorite meals. We found the food to be better than Chef Mickey's (although that was good too). Character interaction also. The baby had started crying (just needed that nap right then) and all the characters rushed over to do their best to stop him. We were actually just about to leave, but they all stayed their for about 10 minutes trying to make him happy for longer than 10 seconds. Goofy especially. Our server was friendly and very non-rushing. The buffet line was probably the shortest we encountered on our trip. We'll be back May 25!

MEOW................ :cat:

I wasn't trying to insinuate that I was above anyone else. I was simply stating that after several other character dining experiences that this was a disappointment - especially to my DS, who LOVES the Duck. I posted the same question (about Duck's Breakfastsaurus) several months ago. I got mixed reviews, but decided to try it anyway b/c, well, it's Duck. DS had more interaction with Donald in the Camp M/M area.
