Current PVB direct purchase incentives beyond the $8 off?

Hi!

I’ve been searching for more information and I apologize I cannot find it. I believe I saw someone say Poly direct was coming in at $195 pp after all incentives/discounts. However when I go to the add on tool I only see $8 off pp on $235. Are there other discounts?

They are now allowing people to take advantage of the Magic Beginning program which allows an owner to sell back current UY points for $20:point.

So, if one does that, you are ar $215…and then there are other incentives that bring it further.

Not sure what level of points gets you to $195

So with an October use year would I be correct that I would be selling back 2025 year points?

This is from other thread that talks about the current Poly deal at $195 per point.
Poly - current member $225pp for 150pts = $33,750

Minus $3000 MB = $30,750

Minus $1000 Visa = $29,750

Minus $500 D23 = $29,250

Anything else?

$29,250/150pts = $195pp and likely 41yrs left to use (40yrs for Jan/Feb UYs).

Not horrible, not great either.

I’m spoiled after getting $1,500 off for existing trip incentive and 5 free points too. That would take it down to $27k and a price I’d actually consider ($180pp :^D). Probably jump on! I’m ok waiting… though it might never get there. While we’d like more points, we have enough available to match our upcoming plans and do the job. For now I watch mid ‘25 and ‘26 for deals and play the long game. Also keeping an eye on all resale for good measure.

Do they give you the points for free or do you have to pay that year's dues? If you have to pay dues that changes the calculation on "savings" on a purchase.

Dues for direct purchases are calculated by calendar year and not use year and you only pay going forward. So there are no back dues to pay for any extra/"double" points

So in the example above with an October use year, the purchaser would get:
  • October 2024 points with 0 dues paid (which you can sell back for the $20 with Magical Beginnings)
  • October 2025 points paying prorated dues from the purchase date (purchasing today would be paying around 75% of full dues)
  • October 2026 points onward at full dues

Technically, that it not quite. No matter what points you get, dues are based on when you buy.

An Oct UY buying April 1st pays 9 months of dues for 2025 since that when the contract was bought.

You would be getting a full set of 2024 and 2025 points….assuming you don’t sell points back…since the current UY for Oct is Oct 2024..

If one sells the Oct 2024 points back, it has no impact on the dues. Still paying 9 months worth of 2025 dues.

Someone with a Feb UY, who buys the exact same day, pays the same 9 months of dues, but starts with 2025 points, since we are in the Feb 2025 UY.

I think. It gets confusing when we try to attach dues to the points…

Thanks for the explanation @Sandisw. Seems timing is important if you want to purchase the same use year you already own. Since I have an April UY currently, I would want to buy direct any time before 4/1 if I wanted to maximize Magical Beginnings. Or pick a new UY like October for my new contract.

I agree. 180 pp would have me jumping. If my add on goes through, currently in rofr, then we r set for all our plans so I could sell back easily(I think lol). But you are right, need to play the long game and see what happens. I just do not want to have too many restricted points. Have 225 direct but I see pricier point stays as my kids get older- larger rooms and premium seasons bc of school 😆

But that's exactly what I said, lol.
"Dues for direct purchases are calculated by calendar year and not use year and you only pay going forward."

I just gave the example of October since someone earlier looking to purchase had an October use year. A different use year may look different. But either way you only pay dues going forward.

It does matter when you buy because there is an advantage to the later use years as they can end up getting an extra year of points out of the deal.

I was responding to the part where you tied it to UY….that can be confusing for new buyers when UY is irrelevant for dues calculations

Whether it’s was an Oct UY or any other UY, the dues situation would be the same.

I know resale is different but just being sure anyone new reading this understands that they would get same dues bill for buying the same day, for any and all UYs.

Mmm yeah they aren't tied to the use year, I didn't mean to make it seem like they were.

I just used the October use year and the list to show how you can essentially get extra dues free points plus and much more discounted/prorated dues for the first year if you buy just before your use year (especially if the use year is later in the year)

I received an email today outlining my offers available. $8 per point off Poly. No mention of Magical Beginnings or Disney Visa or anything. I hate that people have to search everywhere to see what deals other people get.
