Current Military Discounts?

Are there any current military discounts going on?

My DH is active duty army. The only discounts are Shades of Green resort, rate is based on rank. We are paying $99 a night for a deluxe resort! You can buy your park passes at a MWR or at SOG for a discount of about 5-10%. None of the on-site disney resorts offer any military discounts.

Do you like Shades of Green? I'm a little hesitant to try it, but the price is forcing me to consider it! Will I regret not booking at POFQ or CSR? Or will I like it even better? I quess I just don't know enough about it!

Disney DOES at times have military discounts but not directly through them. Last year I booked AKL through my base's leisure travel and paid $135 per night for Aug 15-20. They were offering up to 40% rack rates for Aug 1 until around Oct or so. Only certain TA's get this code but it IS out there. There was a discount right now that is expiring for travel through Feb 15.

I remember reading a list on some of the disney boards about the discounts. I can not remember exactly which one but I always look at The Dis homepage and also Mousesavers. I also know some of the disney TA specialis like Dreams unlimited will say there are not military discounts except SOG but Small World Vacations says they can find them if available.

I hope this helps! I am hoping a discount comes out for this summer but reserved a room at SOG just in case. They have been getting full lately so keep that in mind you can cancel up to 30 days out. Some say you can get overflow rates at times but they are not always a "great deal." Good Luck!

SOG is a wonderful resort. I've stayed there two times and love the location and the size of the rooms. The rooms are larger then GF,AKL. Any questions just let me know. Tina

Just an FYI, Disney does from time to time offer Military Discounts. These CAN be booked directly through Disney. They just had a 40% off rack rate discount good for stays through Oct 1st of last year. In 2003, they had that same discount as well. Just keep checking mousesavers for the codes. Unfortunately, Disney isn't offering any military discounts at this time. HTH
