Some notes from the current Disney Magic cruise.
We hit very very bad seas leaving Bergen, not the worst I have encountered, but after cruising through the back ends of two hurricanes in the last, last night was just below that.
Last night we had the animators show, there was less than a third of AP filled, many were seasick, reports are Carioca's was the same less than half full. Cabanas dinner was full as people made their way up there to eat.
The place to be was a higher deck!
The hygiene crew member was used for many accidents in AP when people suffered seasickness.
WiFi for the first time I have experienced has been terrible. Normally good but actually no Wifi for 24 hours.
Tangled was on three times today 2 pm and two evening shows. The 2pm had queues from 1.15 and was full.
In Copenhagen DCL took non European passports, they decided UK passports were non European but then agreed to return them when they found out the UK is still in Europe.
Desserts quality has fallen in MDRs.
Palo great, the calzone at brunch is fantastic.
Clayton is the CD. He is so good.
Port adventures, they cancelled some at last minute claiming low participation- many on our cruise meets were booked on one of these so not sure why. Port adventures staff - mid advised on alternatives. Another reason to book private if they cancel at the last minute when on the ship.
Palo overnight dinner in Iceland has nearly no bookings will be closed.

Thanks for the update. Hope you have a great cruise despite the rough weather. :sail:
Sorry to hear dcl is dropping the ball a bit but thay is how we have felt on our last two cruises.

Oh no - hope the remainder is less eventful. Weather is finally perking up here so sending you calmer seas

We aren't non-European yet!! :sad2:

Does that mean they are finally going to rename the UK to Airstrip One? Has been in the works since 1984 from what I heard...

Hope the weather improves DF, and the experience too.

Yes!! I was waiting for your updates, but sorry for the rough sea. I am so thankful because we had an awesome sailing, no movement. But next year we are on the Norway cruise in June. On the wifi, I had the worst signal in all my 6 cruises. Can't wait to see your full report.

I have a recommendation for MDR deserts.

Please do not place decorative sauce onto the plates so far in advance that they show shrinking and lose their shiny luster. Every trio desert sampler platter I ordered, looked like yesterday's jam left from my breakfast plate. The chocolate was becoming firm and left a outline of where it started to dry onto the plate. The food did taste good but presentation wasn't good.
I didn't complain because I didn't want to risk anything coming back on my servers.
I had second seating and they looked like leftovers from first seating. I even remember thinking near the end of my 7 day cruise. "Do I want the trio that maybe dried out looking or the apple pie?" I asked my servers for a recommendation between the two and he brought me both. I kinda assumed he would, he sometimes had a wince when I asked which was more popular. So cute, but I would always tell him that he had made great recommendations. I'm sure they worry that their bad recommendations affected their tip. Not true for me, but of course they didn't know me, so I get it.

I only turned back one thing, and I was so sure I would love it, the lobster soup(can't seen to spell the "B" word for type of soup, grrr) Oh that was nasty, salty, luke warm and fishy tasting.

I've only been on two cruises (2014 Dream and 2015 Magic) and thought the desserts in the MDR were not so fantastic. If they're worse...ugh.

I wouldn't say worse. But pick a single desert and the trio didn't visually impressive me but the taste was OK. Always ask your server about what he recommended. Joel always seem to set me up with the freshest option that way.

DF, sorry about the rough seas. Otherwise, I hope you are having a Magical cruise. We are looking fjord to our cruise out of Copenhagen next June.

As always, appreciate your taking the time out of your vacation to update us.
Hope the rest of your trip is wonderful!

We had really rough seas from Scotland to Iceland. 18 foot swells. The captain warned everyone well in advance. We had smooth seas the rest of the trip hopefully you will too. I don't know about desserts, but I thought food in general was the worst I've had on a dcl cruise. Luckily, I don't cruise for the food.

Disney Fantasy - I hope the seas calm down for you! I admit, I had a little chuckle about the passports!!

And I have a favour to ask if you have time! Would it be possible for you to go and ask about the Anna and Elsa makeover at BBB. The only info I have found is from DCL blog, and it just shows that the children are given a fake hair braid to go with the nails / makeover. The photo doesn't show and tiara etc. I would be really very grateful for any information!!

Thankyou

Claire :)

Wishing you calmer seas! I hope the rest of your cruise is better. Maybe getting the negative out the way first...

Lol re passports... You can't get rid of us that easy!
