Current Crowds and Weather?

How are the crowds and weather currently at WDW? We arrive on Sat. for 8 days at POP...I read the local schools were closed.....anyone there now with feedback on weather and crowds?

Weather is typical summer -- muggy in the morning, hot in the afternoon, rainy for a bit late afternoon, muggy in the evening.

Crowds are about normal for late summer crowds. The Studios is a bit more crowded because local kids are out of school until Tuesday (24th), and Animal Kingdom is a bit more crowded because people have heard that it was the most damaged park and they want to see what it looks like.

Otherwise ... normal late summer.

Don't mean to sound stupid, but are the schools closed till Tuesday because of the hurricane or some Florida vacation break?

Yes many of the area schools are out until next week because of the hurricane. The temps here have been upper 80's and 90's mix that with the humidity and it feels like 95 and 97 in the afternoon. We have been having those afternoon thunderstorms too! usual FL weather.

do the parks seem more crowded than typical late august? Do the kids go back next week? Mon. Aug. 23rd or later? Thanks

I went to MK later in the day yesterday and it wasn't too crowded. No wait for Haunted Mansion, 10 minutes for BTM, 1 hour for Splash Mountain, 35 minutes for Buzz, 30 for Space Mountain while I was there.

It was, however, very hot. They are forcasting low 90's all week and due to the high humidity the heat index is 103ish. Bring the fans and water bottles.

Osceola heads back to school on Monday, Orange on Tuesday so any effect they are having on attendance will be over then.

We are off to Epcot...
