Background ---My friend will be in WDW from July 3 to July 6. She didn't know about ADR and did not know about the DDP. She is staying at All-Stars Music. She has been to WDW two previous times around the 4th, so she does know what she is getting into crowdwise. I was SURE she wouldn't be able to find anywhere to eat in MK on the 4th. So we booked them last night and arranged for a DDP for her and her family.

Curious part--- WE HAD NO TROUBLE BOOKING ADR'S AT THE PLACES SHE WANTED AT THE TIMES SHE WANTED!! She got Chrystle Palace for dinner on 4th since she does not plan to leave the park that day, Teppakani at Epcot (even Le Cellier was open) on the 5th, and Ohanas on the 6th. All at decent times. I was sure everything would be booked. Not only did she get the restaurants she wanted at the times she wanted but she had choices!!!

Is this the way it usually is? And if so why make ADR's so far in advance? OR will it not be as crowded as expected??

Any ideas???

I think these restaurants are used to turning over very large numbers of people - I also think they probably overbook the adr's - since many make them and don't show up. If you want a specific time/date - sometimes that might get tricky - also calling closer to the time (maybe that week) would be trickier. HOlidays are tricker (like 4th of July) and things like Cinderella's Breakfast are very hard to get, but not impossible.

I also think that by virtue of the nature of this board - there is a higher percentage of "planners" reading this as opposed to the "let's wing its". LOL

I guess what threw me was it was JULY 4th and she did want specific times and she got what she wanted just a month out!!! I wasn't able to get what I wanted for June and I was 3 months out!!! :confused3

That is curious--. Must be those particular restaurants. Tho I've read that Le Cellier is booked months in advance during "normal" times. So getting that on July 5 was a big plus!!
