Curious about Fantasmic

If you want to sit at the river front you have to get there a few hours (3-4) before showtime. If you want to sit further back on the ground infront of the river you have to get there about 2 hours before the show starts. All free seating is ground and while people claim they watch it from the restaurant I have no idea how they can see. There is also paid seating in two areas.

Fantasmic seating at DL is more like that for a parade or fireworks, where the Cast Members set up ropes for designated sitting and standing areas. Similar to a popular parade or fireworks, it is pretty crammed. The good part is that you are very close to the show. Like many others, I greatly prefer Fantasmic at DL to that at WDW MGM.

We usually go to the second show and get riverfront seating, and get there 30-45 minutes early. You need to get there earlier for the first show (which may be the only show in off season). We did that once in the summer and got there 90-120 minutes early.

My family is pefectly happy with the view you can get ( standing to the left of the piates bridge, on the steps if possible) with a 20 minute wait!

what you do is right after the fireworks, you head over to the Rivers of America. At this time, its practically empty. Just wait for the rest of the 45 mins... its well worth it and its right in the middle.

We didn't plan it but this year we waited for the fireworks to finish and then we ran to RoA and was waiting right next to the lemonade stand. It was roped off to let the crowds from the first showing out but we were right at the front of the rope so as it dropped, we walked quickly to the next rope (in front of the railings to the RoA) and secured another great position for when that rope dropped as we were allowed to move right up to the railing. When it did, we secured our best view of Fantasmic! EVER!! And all in all it only took about a half an hour. It gets kinda cramped but the show is too good to miss so you deal with it.

We usually stand on the bridge above the Pirates main entrance but that tree seems to have grown a lot since 2004 and that blocked out a lot of the view this year so we tried out best... and it worked out better. A LOT better!!! I'd never go back now. It's all aboutt he second showing!!

Just came back from Disneyland and while I did not have a chance to see Fantasmic, I am just wondering how it can possibly work.

In MGM in Orlando, you have to get there at least an hour early to get an OK seat in a stadium that can hold thousands of people. Yet in DL, it seems like there are almost no seats and very little standing space. It seems like a very crammed area.

So im just wondering if someone could explain to me how it works there (do they clear some things away? Is it just terribly uncomfortable?) because I was really left scratching my head.

Thanks!

2year old son and I saw fireworks then went to ROA. Found a spot just inside the ropes right in front of POTC walkway. The CM made me park my stroller at the ropes in the back. No strollers down front apparently. Parked it there, went on Pirates. Came back stood up with the stroller and had a perfect view. The stroller holding my spot. I'm tall so it was not an issue. dead center.

If you can stay for the later show, here's what we do. Just before the first show starts, get towards Haunted Mansion. While the first show is going on, ride Haunted Mansion, Splash, or Winnie the Pooh. Pick up snacks, coffee/hot chocolate and the confectionary near the exit to Pooh.

After the first show ends, everyone is heading toward Main Street. Come in from the Haunted Mansion side and grab front row/center seats. Enjoy sweets and coffee, then enjoy the 2nd show. :cool1:

Second show is much better for finding a spot. We have had luck finding a place just 30 minutes before show time, not sitting front and center but still had a great view of the water screens.

SHHHH.. don't tell but the trick is to stand behind one of the light towers for the show, they go up and Ta-da you have a perfect view with minimal wait.
That's where we plan to be in just two weeks!

We do the standing room people have mentioned above and we never arrive more than 20-30 minutes ahead of time. We've always gotten a good view and people are really pretty civil about the cramped quarters. I frequently have people offer me the space in front of them because I'm 5'2" and they can see over my head which is very cool of them. If possible I try to extend that courtesy to children too.

Anyone have good suggestions as to where to see Fantasmic! from with younger children? I could not possibly hold my 3 yr. old for the whole show. Are there places that you can sit and see the show?
