I know this isn't a very cheerful topic but I just wanted to express the sadness I feel about this developing news story. At least five people are reported to have been killed, along with the gunman himself. Awful.

I wasn't aware of what happened in Hungerford before I heard people drawing comparisons today. I was only a baby at the time. It does seem to be a similar case.

Tragic news and those poor people were just out doing their daily thing, going to the shops, working. Very sad.

Am just watching the news and cannot believe what has happened. Such a wonderful part of the country. I feel so sorry for the families of those who have died.

I was working in a Scottish hospital and still memember the day of the dumblane shootings, now I work in a Sunny Cumbrian hospital!

It's really shocking and sad news! The hospital trust where I work was put on red alert, but we had no idea what had happened apart from there had been people shot. I'm only now catching up on what really happened!

the worst thing is he committed suicide without getting punished and leaves so many unanswered questions, it's a shocking crime

This is awful - I am originally from Whitehaven and lived there for 18 years until I went away to Uni so even though Ive been away longer than i lived there its still so strange seeing it on the TV

but what could have droven a what was described by the killer's friends and colleagues and by those who knew him how could a ordinary guy go over the edge honestly he must have been born evil or somerthing.
