Well my youngest is finally old enough to go to the kid's clubs! It has been about 5 years since we have used one....my oldest went to Simba's and LOVED it!

We will be at WDW next week and for part of our stay we will be at WL. I set the boys up for Cub's Den and dh and I are going out to eat alone which will be nice! However, we are going to Kona for dinner so we could have the kids go to the Neverland Club also. I think it will be nice just to have them at the Cub's Den for ease and dh and I can enjoy some extra "peaceful" time BUT I am concerned that the Cub's Den might be boring for the 9 yr old????

Any thoughts? I can't really find any good photos of either club. I would welcome any advice!!!

my kids were 10 and stayed at both. Both had good and bad points, I think overall your kids will be happy at either, so pick the one that works best for you

Simbas cubhouse is very similiar to Cubs Den....just slightly smaller...

Neverland club is by far the biggest.....definately more fun for the 9 yr old.

If your going to Kona.....I would definately put them in Neverland....
ease of mind having them nearby....

Take a romantic walk around the poly after dinner....depending on the
time....you might be able to see wishes at the beach.
Have a great trip.....Kona is yummy:goodvibes

I vote for Neverland Club. I think you're right, Cub's will be a little dull for the 9 yo, but Neverland has "wow" factor.

A word of warning: boat transportation at night from the WL can be terrible, depending upon the water parade and MK fireworks/parade schedules. I had a bad experience when Miles was in the Cub's Den and I literally could not get back to him when I promised because there was a 45 minute wait to get onto a boat back to WL after the MK fireworks ended. If he'd been at Neverland, the monorail was a bit of a wait, but only maybe an extra 10 to 15 minutes, it obviously can handle crowds way better than the boats.

So some advice you didn't ask for: take a taxi from the WL to the Polynesian.

And some more unsolicited advice: after dinner, leave the kids in the Club for an extra couple of hours and go over to the Magic Kingdom to get in some couple's ride time.

Thanks for the advice!

I was thinking about taking the cab one way...any idea of the cost??? As far as the ride...I WISH but MK closes at 8 p.m. that night so we will not have time. The down side of going in "off" times. We may go over to the CG for an after dinner drink which will be nice. Might catch Wishes from the outside verandah!

Thanks guys...I think I am going to change them to the Neverland Club. Take a cab over and see what we feel like doing after we pick them up. They love the Electric Water Pageant so maybe we will watch it from the beach at the Poly!

poly and wl are real close....

cab ride is like 5 dollars.

OK....so now I got to thinking today...:rolleyes1

We were planning on going to Kona per my choice since I am the "planner". I LOVED Kona when I was there in June for lunch with a fellow Diser! Sooooo I REALLY thought DH would enjoy it....he is a GREAT cook and really enjoys and appreciates a good meal! We were originally going to CG but I decided against it this time...LOVE it there but wanted something different.

So Kona it was UNTIL I read a great review on Artist's Point! I toured this restaurant in June and it is lovely but I was not sure that I wanted to dine there. Well now I am torn! I have the kids set up in both clubs at this point and will cancel one in a day or so once I decide where we want to dine! It would be nice just to have a casual night at the resort and not have to worry about being to far from the kids etc. but on the other hand, if we take the kids to Neverland and then we dine at the Kona....we have the night at the Poly area to enjoy different "scenery". We almost stayed at the Poly because we really love it there...decided on WL not only for a change but also because of it's "warmth" in the cooler months! How nice to have the fire and hot tubs in Jan!

Rambling I know....adivce is appreciated!!! ;)

If it were me, I would do Artist's Point. The ambiance is awesome, and food rarely different and yummy. Then if you and hubby want to take a hot tub alone or something else:rolleyes1 you are at your resort.

SOOOO :rolleyes1 we may be on the same page! LOL

That being said..I want the boys to enjoy the night as well. My oldest LOVED Simba's and can;t wait to return! He is an art/craft kind of kid!! youngest ds will do anything! LOL

OMG...I feel like this is the BIGGEST decision of my life! LOL

Last year, when my DD was 8 & DS was 5, we put the kids in the Cub's Den while we had a date at Artist Point. I really enjoyed that restaurant. It was quieter than Kona. Kona's food is good, but really lacks in atmosphere. It's extremely loud. Plus, DH & I enjoyed walking around in the WL lobby while waiting for our ADR time. While the Cub's Den was small, my DD had a fun time. She made a new friend & enjoyed drawing with her. My DS LOVED the video games!

This year, we stayed at the Poly. We had a date night at the GF & left the kids in the Neverland Club. Again, both kids had a great time. DD, who was 9-1/2 on this trip, didn't really express a preference of the NC over the CD. She enjoyed them both.

I hope this helped some! Have fun planning!

Any chance you can do both.....

1 night Kona/neverland......1night...artist point/cubs den....

We put my DD in the kids clubs 4 out of the 7 nights we are there....

She is an only child and really likes going there.

I think I am going to have dh look at the menu's and let him decide! The one reason that I am now second guessing Kona is because of how loud it is. For a "night out" alone it might be nicer just to be somewhere quiet. I guess I could even consider going over to GF to Narrccoossee's! LOL Boy am I making this difficult! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You got that right! :rotfl2: No wonder my dh does not EVER get involved...he is a smart man!! He knows that no matter what he says I am just going to keep changing things anyway. ;)

this is suppose to be couple's night out, stop worrying about the kids and weather they will enjoy seeing the water pageant at the beach or this or that. Do what YOU and your husband want to do. The kids will be happy and survive no mater which spot you pick. Eventually when they have stayed at both they can voice an opinion about which one THEY prefer.
I like the idea that you can slip over to MK and have some time with hubby walking around the park
Choose the restaurant that you and he will both enjoy. My husband loves Konas so that would be a no brainer for us. The looks and food outweigh the noise factor for us

Oh great...now I may be back to going to Kona's...LOL!!

MK is really not an option...closes at 8. Who knows...maybe we can go over there for a bit before we have dinner. Hey...maybe I should throw another twist in here and consider trying to get an ADR for Cinderella's!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: OMG...I am killing myself!!:rotfl2:

OK...I am completely losing it!!

I just had another thought since you were all talking about going on rides together. MAYBE I should set them up at the Dolphin at the night of EE. We can dine at either Shula's or Blue Zoo and get 2 hours of childcare for free!!!

I know you guys are probably sick of me by now...heck, I am sick of me!! But have any of you used the club here or dined at either restaraunt? What a fun night that would be!!

I think I am really going to get dh involved now...he can look at all the menus and help decide what he thinks would be fun!!

SORRY!! Can you tell it has been YEARS since dh and I had a night alone in WDW!!!

It's been few years, but we put our kids in NClub. Afterwards, we went up to a valet and asked where to get a cab back to WL because our kids were really tired and we didn't want to wait for WDW transportation. He asked us to wait a minute and then a driver pulled up with a WDW van and drove us back to our hotel for free. It was a very quick drive and we did tip him.:)
