I have a few places that have been recomd and still a few newer recomd to check out. But seeing as I was moved to this board I was wondering who out there can recommend good places to eat at various locations???

Family of 4...2 boys (11/5) and my 5 yr old is a picky one!!

Also wondering if there are any places that people recommend we skip and not waste our time? Looking for a decent variety in the menu choices and that's something I haven't been seeing often, esp at dinner time places. I am not a big red meat type person. :confused3

Please help!!!!

Thanks in advance...Tara in CT:thumbsup2

Tara, why not check out the link to the menus?

If you look at the top of the forum, just above all the "sticky" threads, you should see four links. One of them is for menus.

That way, you can find places that you find appealing. It's difficult to accept dining advice here when there are conflicting posts for every restaurant where some people love it and others hate it.

Hopefully checking the menus will help you make decisions. :)

our absolute favorite place so far has been Ohana!! Crystal Palace was good too. Chef Mickey's was a blast as far as characters and fun, food was just ok.

Tara, got to allearsnet.com to check all restaraunts/menus. Have the kids sit with you and plan it out with them.

Everybody does have different taste and opionons.
Our fav's are Ohana's which is family style but you can ask for other options for the kids if they are not happy with the menu.
Crystal Palace a buffet full of choices for all.
Gala Feast @ Grand Floridian. buffet good choices.
Cape May Clambake buffet good choices.
LeCellier for pretzel sticks and cheese soup.

It's not easy planning sometimes, we have been 7 times and I still rack my brains, I would love to try them all someday.

We love the character breakfasts: Tuskar House, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey.
Lunches we usually do the quick service which is how is sounds quick. Cosmic Rays, ABC commisary, The food isn't great but it fills a hole and gets you going again in a hurry.
We don't do alot of sit down dinners because we are usually in the parks or too tired to get dressed for somewhere nice. Sci Fi dine in theater stick with the burgers, onion rings, and milkshakes and you'll love it. Atmosphere here is great. Rainforest Cafe' is really good, boys will love the fish tanks and forest all around them. You might want to check out TRex for the boys also, never have been but looks interesting. If you want something romantic San Angel Inn, food is authentic Mexican, not the Tex Mex junk we eat here. I love it DH not so much.
Those are my picks.

One suggestion I have is the Cape May Buffet for dinner. This is one of our favorite buffets and it is at the Beach Club. It has a seafood side with crap legs and clams and mussels, peel and eat shrimp and fried fish etc...and it has a regular side with ribs and pizza and chicken and fries. Lots of salads and sides too. The dessert selection is pretty large too!

For planning, I make a spreadsheet with the dates and look up park times, extra magic hours and show times. Then I add in the park (s) for the days. After that, I hit allears.net and look at menus.

We spend a day in HS and AK and two in MK and EP. That leaves us with a day for a water park or pool and DTD or a repeat if we find we want to redo something. Granted, we don't have kids with us so that will severely adjust the schedule.

Best places : Garden Room Tea at the Grand Floridian (not on the dining plan...my DH loves this too..it's not just for girls).
Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club (nice boat ride from DHS or the International Gateway at EPCOT...or walkable). They have a 3-course meal option that is included in the dining plan as 1 credit.
Trail's End Buffet at Ft. Wilderness Campground. Same menu as the Hoop-Dee-Do plus some extras.
Olivia's at Old Key West is good too. Huge slab of cheesecake for dessert and they also have a banana bread pudding sundae that is even richer!
All of these places are relatively easy to get an ADR.

Our worst food has been at Kona at the Poly. It was obviously sitting there premade and under a heat lamp. The sweet welcome bread and non-alcoholic daquiries were the only saving grace of that meal. Horrible wait, rude server who pulled plates away from us before we were finished. We waited an hour past our ADR and the entire meal was only 45 min. I still can't figure out what people see in this place. I am much happier with the food at the CS downstairs from captain cookes.

I agree to look at menus allears.net has them listed. You can see what your family would enjoy the most. For kids, the buffets are always nice and have a fun selection.

For your group I would recommend 'Ohana in the Polynesian Resort. The food is served family style and is absoultely delicious!:thumbsup2 There are views of Cinderella's castle and if you time it right you can watch Wishes as you dine. There are also activities for the little one. I would also suggest a character meal. We love Cape May and the Crystal Palace, but Chef Mickey's is a great place to meet Mickey. Good luck deciding!:goodvibes

Take the boys to Wilderness Lodge! The Whispering Canyon Cafe....Make sure to make a few ADR's for this one,,you will want to go back,,,and if not....just cancel them,,,but you will not get in once you get there if you don't have ADR's!!!
My boys loved it and wanted to return each trip.
Ask them for ketchup and watch out!
Ask them for more water and you get a 2 liter mug with 2 foot straws..
They have games during lunch and the menu is very satisfying for every one.
The Skillet is great,,,and the cornbread even better!!

I agree with the other poster who said to take a look at the menus.

Every restaurant at Disney has it's share of fans (some are fanatical) on these boards. But for every post you see where someone says they love a restaurant, you will find equal amount from people who hate the place.

I guess my recommendation would be (since you are a "newbie"), don't spend a lot of your time traveling to out of the way restaurants. I think Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge is great, but unless you're staying there, the trip over will take up your valuable time. Depending on where you're staying, try out something in your hotel, or Downtown Disney.

Try out stuff that YOU think would be interesting at EPCOT. If you don't like it, you're right back in the Park when you're done. On your Magic Kingdom days, you can easily take the monorail to Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary to try out places there.
