Currently, we are booked at CSR the week of Labor Day with free dining. Arriving on the 2nd. I just found out the main pool is closing from September 4- December 12. Would this be a deal breaker for you? Their main pool is fabulous. Would you jump ship and go to CBR? It is just two adults.

No we are at Disney for the parks and other experiences, not the pool. I’d rather have no main pool than eat in a “food tent” which is what is at CBR right now. CSR has other pools too, you won't be without a pool if you want to go for a dip.

Interesting question. We rarely use the actual pool but we love the hot tub and the pool bar. If I were solo, it probably wouldn't bother me as I'd just use my bathtub in my room for a nice long soak and use one of the quiet pools for swimming. I'm assuming those quiet pools are going to be not so quiet if the main pool is closed down. The food truck issue at CBR wouldn't bother us as we rarely eat at the food courts except for breakfast maybe two days out of the trip. I guess it would just depend on if you had planned on using the pool and the make up of your party. If there are kids that would like the pool games and just the fun of the big pool, I might change.

CSR has more dining options than any other moderate and most resorts at Disney. It would be my destination if on the Dining Plan.

CBR will still have the tent dining (which I believe is a 1 QS credit for a buffet - a good deal) but no Table Service.

BUT maybe we need the detail ............. did you upgrade your FD to the regular DDP? If not, then maybe go with which resort appeals to you.

I did not upgrade it is QS. We don't like the whole reservation thing and having to be some where by a certain time.

Well then looks like CBR will be the tent dining buffet.

CSR will lose the pool dining but still have a couple options in El Centro.

I think maybe it would boil down to how much time are you planning to spend hanging around the pool.

I do like to relax at the resort some. We are not sun up to sun down park people. We do like to take breaks. So I guess we will need to decide what is important to us. I figure CBR the main pool is open and the eating options look okay and they do have more quiet pools too that will actually be quiet, I am not so sure CSR quiet pools will now be that considering they will be the only pools open. Plus you will be losing the pool bar, hot tub too. If you need drink refills you will have to go to the main building and that could be a long way if you are in the Ranchos section. Lots to think about.

The pool would be a deal breaker for my family as my kids love to swim. However, I also wouldn't stay at CBR during the construction because the amenities they lack now are also important to us. So this probably doesn't help, but I wouldn't choose either resort during the construction for the prices they are still charging.

We opted to stay with CSR this Fall regardless of the pool closure. We did not do free dining, but even if we had, I wouldn't bother changing. At CSR, all the dining amenities will still be available to you and you'll have the 3 quiet pools to choose from. The construction is also less intrusive than CBR.

YES YES YES!!! So much of this!! This was why FD was such a major dud this year, the mod choices are not fun at all. We like to swim and the big pools for our kids are a must. If it was just me and my husband, we wouldn't need the main pool but for our girls it's required. Agree about the construction, CBR isn't one of my favorites so I can't fathom paying for that resort in the shape it's in now with the food tent etc. CSR isn't as impacted with the construction going on but it's still a gamble on whether or not you'd get a remodeled room and the old rooms are not worth what they are charging. We skipped out completely on FD because of this very reason. Don't want to stay value and can't justify rack rate for deluxe.

If I were you, I'd stay at CSR. I would not choose CBR until their construction is done. One of the blogs did a recent update of which sections of CSR have gotten the room remodeling done, you can request a room in one of those sections but as always it's just a request. The new rooms do look very nice and from the reviews I've seen, a lot of folks have said they have a deluxe feel.

We just stayed at CSR and the renovated rooms were WONDERFUL! That alone made me want to rebook with them. I also really liked the Rix Cafe and the pool bar. It's a bummer the pool bar will be closed. I know there is Laguna Bar but I haven't been there. On our stay we actually preferred the smaller quiet pools, partly because it was right outside our room so it was easier. The quiet pool was still pretty big and perfect for our kids. They are younger though and not picky. We did pool every day and for us Dig site being closed wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I have no problems with using the quiet pools, and CBR is my least favorite moderate.
