As for the water cannons on Splash Mountain, I have a confession to make. (Bless me Fr. Nebo, for I have sinned). When our DD was little, she was relatively fearless. She watched the logs coming down the mountain at DL and said she wanted to go on. Where the water splashes up, it looks like the log disappears under water. I told her she could go on if she could hold her breath when the log did the submarine dive. I thought she knew I was just kidding, but the poor thing actually held her breath when we went downhill. Lucky she didn't pass out. Let's just say that's another round of therapy we paid for to help her get over her childhood traumas. <"Tell me how this made you feel."
Mine was when my DD was about 4. She was told to put her toys away in her room, and I just HAD to say, "And don't even think about stuffing everything under your bed!" She said, "Why not?" and I said, "If all your toys are there, where will the monsters sleep?"
Sometimes I say stuff just to amuse myself. This one bit me in the butt, big time.
On her first trip to WDW, probably later that same year, we made the mistake of taking her on Mr. Toad for her very first Disney ride ever. Poor kid. She came out and said, "Do NOT even take me on anything else that's dark, or where things jump out at you." She's a senior in college now and she STILL won't go on anything that's dark, or where things jump out at you.
Fortunately, we only ever had the one kid.
Edited to add: I too think of RigLee now & then. Maybe they have a little mollusk named Matchbox.
