We have a 10:35 breakfast ADR at CP, but also have the option of lunch at 11:45. I feel like the 11:45 might work better for touring, because we can get more done before the meal. But I'm wondering if the late breakfast would give us the chance to be there for some lunch food, too.

Currently park opening is 9am, but it's a party day and it looks like last year party days were all changed to 8am openings. I guess if it changes to 8am, then I'd feel better about keeping the 10:35, so maybe I should wait and see. Any thoughts?

It will slowly convert over. It's not a drastic "shut down and replace" situation. You should have some breakfast food at 11:45 but there is no promise there will be any and that's if you get seated right at 11:45.

Thank you! I'm actually hoping for the opposite, that if we keep the 10:35 breakfast, there may be some lunch food put out before we are done.

I'd keep the 10:35 so as to be able to try both breakfast and lunch, because I haven't yet done that at Crystal Palace, and I've done lots of park touring over past visits. If I were a first-time visitor or otherwise hadn't done much park touring in the past, I might have gone the other way.

I think that’s what we’ll do! It’s not our first trip, but it’s our first big trip with our DS10 (he’s been twice before but only for a day or two) and it’s our twins’ (almost 2yo) first trip, but this will be one of three MK days, plus MVMCP so we should still have plenty of time there.

Crystal palace does it differently

They seat later adrs on one side of the restaurant. They then rope off the middle of the buffet. Breakfast people get breakfast. Then lunch people sit on the other side. They get the lunch side of the buffet

That was what we saw when we did Kate bfast. May have changed

Very different than th which slowly changes over and you can have both breakfast then lunch

Interesting, thanks for this info. If that is still true, then I guess I just need to pick the time that works best. We don't really have a strong preference of breakfast food vs. lunch food, but of course thought it would be a nice bonus to have the option of trying both at once.

I thought I'd read comments on other threads from people who were able to have breakfast and lunch foods during their same visit at Crystal Palace.

We are thinking of trying this next time. Is one generally considered better than the other (breakfast/lunch)?

They rope off one side of the buffet while they switch that side over to lunch, then they open it up when they are ready. There’s a bit of a time lag while they get it set up but then you can eat both sides. If you want an omelet don’t wait too long because they shut that station down to switch it to a carving station.

I can't speak for the lunch buffet....but in April my husband offered up (without my asking) that he really liked the CP breakfast food- high praise! We all found many different things to our liking. Puffed French toast YUM!

Either way - your children are the wonderful ages for Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet. they do a "parade" with children (and sometimes a parent with them) around the inside of the Crystal Palace ;)
