Crystal Palace Lunch

Has anyone eaten recently at the Crystal Palace character lunch? I am curious as to what they had on the buffet. I looked at the menu on www.allearsnet.com and it appeared that is was mostly cold cuts, salads and a just a few hot entrees. It really didn't look that good.

We are on the dinning plan and want to eat at CP the question is when. We are going at the end of August and my thought is not to do the breakfast because I am not too sure about going on the "mountains" after a buffet breakfast. Dinner looked like a good option but with the park hours then it didn't seem to leave much time afterwards to go on rides.

Lunch would be the perfect time. We could eat around 1:00 and then head back to the hotel to avoid the heat and rest up. Its just that the menu really didn't look all that good. I know we are there primarily for the characters but I would also like have a decent meal too.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The menu on All Ears is pretty accurate. Lots of cold cuts, salads, and some hot dishes.

It's a fun place though, especially if you have kids (or adults) in your group who are big Pooh fans.

Good luck,

Bob

I would suggest that you do a late lunch on an EMH day. Get to the parks at 8 and do all the big rides first then go have a late lunch around 10:30. We did this and really enjoyed the breakfast alot!

I thought about that but isn't the prevailing idea in the unofficial guide to avoid the EMH days?

Hi again Pedler,

I know that's what the book says (and I'm a faithful reader for at least ten years) but I've always ignored that advice. We hit the early park when it opens and stay till lunchtime. This works especially well in August!

We believe in taking full advantage of early entry. It's one of the biggest perks of staying onsite.

I totally agree with that statement. I love the UG too, but this is one point that I totally disagree with them on.

We were not impressed with the food at this place. We went for dinner one night, and nothing seemed very fresh. My daughter did like the desserts, however.

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the advice. I kinda wondered about the early EMH. If most people won't get up early to open the parks at the normal time I does make sense that they wouldn't make it an hour earlier. Of course now I have to rethink my plan for the parks.

Now on another question how are the crowds at the end of August? Is it reasonable to think we could get here at opening and do several rides before a late breakfast.

Pedler.

Yes, I think you could get at very least 5 or 6 rides done by a late breakfast, maybe more.

We've never had a bad meal at Crystal palace. We have lunch there at least once per vacation visit. We were there last in February. There is a set up of children's food station with mac and cheese, chicken fingers, pizza, and mini hot dogs. Next you will find a selection of breads and rolls, followed by cold salads, salad bar and fixin's, and sandwich fixin's. Next is hot food dishes and sides as well as a carving station with two items--usually pork and beef. The desserts are also very good. Usually there is a hot soup as well. We often do the EMH--you can get through all of Fantasy Land in about an hour before the crowds thicken up and a few other attractions before lines get really full up, an early lunch, use a fast pass picked up before lunch and then back for a swim.

I agree with Crazy Kanga! Crowds are manageable in late August and if you schedule a late breakfast you can easily fit in a handful of attractions!

Good luck,

Bob
