We have never tried this for dinner, only breakfast. Is it good? We don't mind Chef Mickey's for dinner, go mainly for the characters, just wondered if CP is any better.
We like CP for dinner....We also like CM. In my opinion I prefer CM's. YOu will get mixed reactions to most resturants. I say give it a try and if you don't like it you will know for yourself!! I had previously been advised not to eat at certain places but did anyway and I loved them. Hope this helps!
We ended up trying CP for an early dinner on a whim. We weren't on DP and they could seat us right away so we gave it a shot. It was great! They had a great variety of food and we all enjoyed it all (my kids were 6 and 2 at the time).
We go for breakfast every trip, and while that's still our favorite, the dinner was a pleasant surprise.
I've eaten diner at both and never have I had a bad meal. As of lately I've been going to CP and that's only because I've eatan at CM's so many times.
On my next trip in October I actually have an ADR for breakfast at CP. I haven't eaten breakfast at CP or CM's in a million years so I'm really looking forward to it!!
My mom and I thought the food was fine for a buffet. If you guys like Pooh characters, it is well worth it. The only complaint we had was that we waited 50 minutes even with an ADR.

Unfortunately an ADR is not a reservation per se for a specific time. It says that you and your party will be seated at the next available table and that's where the hang ups come in. Some people like to sit and "chat" after dinner and while that's a nice thing to do, it also throws all the ADR's off.
I usually suggest to my friends try eating during the non peak hours or off hours. I don't think I've ever had a wait of more than 5-10 minutes if I eat just a little earlier, say 5 pm. Then that gives me the rest of the night to burn it off on all the rides!!
I think the food is very similar between these two places. We have eaten dinner at both 2 different times. At CP, we have had to wait a little longer but still less than half-hour. I think the crowd outside CP always looks overwhelming because so many park guests try to walk up without ADRs.
We've had dinner at CP several times and enjoyed it. Not gourmet food, but it is well prepared and the temperature maintained appropriately--in our experience. The characters were a fun bonus! They will pay as much attention to you as you choose (within their parameters). My BFF and I had fun with them the first round, but motioned them on after that. There were a lot of young children there who needed time with them more than we did! *LOL*
When we visited in December 2007, we had a 14-week-old infant and his 9-year-old sister. They made a fuss over both of them, although the baby slept through part of it!
DH loves to eat at CP every trip. He likes the salmon & I like all the salad offerings. Picky DS can always find something he likes too. And there is a good selection of desserts & ice-cream. The staff does a good job of keeping your drink refilled as well. For a buffet I think they do a good job.
It's usually always crowded when we've gone in the summer so we try to arrive early - I don't know if that helps our wait time but we've always been seated reasonably close to our ADR time. But we usually book a later dinner on the night of the MK - EMH-nights. It's nice to not have to leave the park & everyone is filled, cooled off & ready for some late night touring when we finish.
For CM we tend to try to get an earlier dining time since we'll go there directly after our pool break & then enter MK to do night touring. We enjoy them both, but we tend to like b-fast CM & dinner CP.
