What really are my chances of getting anything the first week of December? I have been on the waitilist for one-and-a-half weeks ;) and we are on waitlists for all DVC resorts, studio or 1 brm.

Any experiences out there to give me hope from past years and past waitlists?

Thank you
Inga

No experience with waitlist for any time of the year, but wanted to send some pixie dust your way - :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

If you are totally open for resort and unit size, I think you still have a chance at a waitlist coming through. This is by far our favorite time of year to visit WDW, and lots of other DVC folks feel the same way! :cool1:

Inga - I hope the waitlist works for you, but I don't think your chances are very good at this point. There have been people on the waitlists for that week for quite some time. Sounds like you might have a lot of people ahaead of you. If you haven't already, consider making a back up reservastion for cash somewhere.

The best chance will come 30-31 days prior to arrival. That's when people cancel if their plans aren't firm. (No one likes to have points in holding if it can be avoided). If the waitlist doesn't come through by then and you still want to be on it, be sure to call MS and tell them so. Otherwise your request will be dropped. At 7 days there are no more waitlists. You have to call to see if something became available.

It could happen - it's not impossible, but it isn't likely. Hope it works for you.

Best wishes-

Thanks CarolMN

Appreciate your honesty. We have already booked a back up for cash at POP but are really hoping to use our points. Perhaps it would make more sense to try to book at CS with our points as we know it is available right now and we haven't stayed there yet on our travels...

I think it depends a lot on how many nights you are trying to get. If you're just looking for 2 consecutive nights, I'd say you have a pretty good shot. But it it's 6-7 nights, the odds are not exactly in your favor. A situation would have to develop where you were first in line on the waitlist AND all of your dates would have to open up concurrently. If you're waitlisted for 6 nights and 5 of the 6 become available, the 5 nights are neither given to you nor are they held waiting for the final night to open. They 5 nights could drop to the next person on the waitlist, or they could go to someone who calls to book a matching reservation.

This is assuming you are waitlisted in an "all or nothing" fashion.

You can also waitlist day-by-day, meaning that any single day (night) that becomes available is booked in your name. But only 3 months out, that would be pretty foolish. You would be likely to end up with unbooked nights in the middle of your trip or having to switch resorts multiple times during your stay.

If you don't mind switching resorts, I'd call DVC and see if you can get as little as two consecutive nights at the same resort. If so, book those nights and go on the waitlist for the next day or two at just that resort. Hopefully you can build your entire trip one day at a time through the waitlist. Any nights you end up not getting at DVC, you can stay at POP.

Good luck!

Decisions decisions...we are waitlisted for 5 consecutive days (sun dec 4th to thursday)...probably the most desired days within that first week as they are fewer points. I was thinking that most folks would have a full week booked, and if they cancelled, that would open full weeks..although I understand we are probably pretty far down the waitlist.

It took a long time for us to close our purchase (started in Feb)and we just got our membership number a few weeks ago, therefore the delay in being able to call and book for Dec.

I thought perhaps being willing to take any resort option would increase our chances...we shall see!

Listen closely next time and you might hear Madam Leota say:

Always book early, don't fail to remember,
If ever you want the first week of December.

:rotfl2: Rinkwide you're too funny!

I've been on the waitlist for VWL for that week for a few months now. I changed my waitlist to BWV for that week, but I do have a BCV studio as a back up. Good luck on your waitlist!
